What do you think is the hardest AD&D or D&D video game fight?

Just womdering what you thought the hardest video game fight out of the AD&D and D&D games was?

I have a few that stick in my mind, most from BG. I think the hardest was either the Lich that you had to kill three times, the third time he was a Demi-Lich or the final battle in I think it was the first BG. They had hasted, displaced dopplergangers. That was just insane and totally nuts. Specially since you weren't all that high level.

In the first Pool of Radiance game you wound up having to beat down a group of 6 or 7 trolls as 1st-level characters.

I hated that game.

The final BG1 fight was not all that hard. Kind of tough but not infuriating. It helps if you spam summons.

The fight that got to me was in the BG1 expansion when the BBEG was slinging death effects. I beat it a few times, but it took forever to win with 0 party losses (which I just had to manage).

The final fight against Morag in Neverwinter Nights comes to mind. It wasn't terribly difficult for a fighter type character but when I tried to go through it with a straight wizard I got obliterated.

Zuggtmoy (sp?) in Temple of Elemental Evil also wipes me out. I have yet to beat that fight.

The Red Dragon? You made it that far?

The Shadowcat kicked our tails. Every. Time.

BTW, I'd love to find that thing in a cabinet sometime and buy it.

Oh, I beat Morag with a straight wizard. It was pretty funny and sad, actually. She died chasing me in circles while my hench (the barbarian) pounded her to paste with his double axe. Nice way to go out, BBEG.

I nominate Baldur's Gate II. In roughly descending order:

Demogorgon: an absolute chore to defeat. If anyone hasn't played BG2, I would recommend having some sandwiches close at hand for this one.

Jon Irenicus: final boss in the original game.

Amelissan: final boss in the add-on, Throne of Bhaal.

Powerful spells, lots of hit points, powerful melee attacks, good summons. You gotta love it. It was my experience that these fights were progressively easier because my characters gained a lot of levels in between, but I'd love to hear how others perceived them.

Those are all tough, but Sarevok from BG1 still takes my award for the only guy I've been unable to beat without abusing fog of war :)

... Unless I am reading you right, and you did Demogorgon BEFORE you fought Irenicus?! I've only even tried to beat him as pretty much the last thing before Melissan in ToB.

Irenicus has always seemed tougher the first time around, but apparently his cohorts in the second battle were suffering from some kind of scripting bug and were lacking abilities/powers/spell usage they should have had. This has been fixed in one of the fan patches after the last time I've played through it, but I hope to be able to give it another shot before this year's end :)

I like a challenging battle, so I haven't had that many troubles with any apart from the final one in BG1; No matter how many summons I've pumped out, if Sarevok and Tazok go active at the same time I always end up taking the dirt nap. ("Sorry mate, you got a date down under") :)
