With the GSL in flux, many of the 3PP not sure which way they are going, Paizo doing Path Finder, many posts about alternative RPGS and 4e being more of your either love it or hate it type of game, I am curious what people really want from their Fantasy Roleplaying Systems.


In the thread, please share what systems you like and why. What changes to other systems you would like to see. What sort of new systems you would love to have. That sort of thing.

In the poll, do you best to choose a close enough choice that sums up your

For me C&C accomplished this. Plus it allows me to use all the rules, ideas, modules, magic spells and items, etc... I want with great ease, from any edition of D&D.

2) i.e. means "in other words"; e.g. means "for example". I think you meant the latter. When I picked "other D20 games", I explicitly do not mean True20, a game that does not suit me.

For me, I have 2 choices:
Pathfinder is my choice for my "D&D fix".
Fantasycraft will likely be my "generic fantasy gaming" go-to game.
 

I want a class-less, level-less, simple point-buy system without non-mechanical things-that-give-points-back, tactical movement, and/or resource management, and which can do high-power/high-magic/(I'm not exactly sure what to ask for here).
 

After more than a few years of gaming ... I've finally come across my favorite system. Although it isn't a system - yet.

I've got a new product coming out through Dreamscarred Press that totally removes class from the game and essentially is an XP buy system that allows variable HD, BAB, class abilities, spellcasting, etc. I've been tinkering with it for a few years now and it is pretty stremlined.

BUT ... thanks to the new server sale I picked up Elements of Magic (revised). I've yet to actually try it in game play ... but even if it isn't a solid system I'm going to tweak it and make it solid. The nice thing is that it eliminates vancian magic AND allows any player to design any spell they want to cast.

So - basically - my all-time system that is in the works in coming out is a system that allows players to build exactly the character they want and combine it with a system that allows them to cast exactly the spells they want.

That is heaven to me.
