D&D 5E What is the perfect Fighter/Barbarian multi-class balance?

I'm making a fighter battle master16/barbarian4 multiclass character. STR16 DEX16 CON14 INT8 WIS10 CHA8. For race I took human variant to get shield master feat from the start. Levels 1-5 fighter levels, level 4 medium armor master feat, level 6 barbarian (rage, UAD)level 7 fighter alert feat, levels 8-9 barbarian(reckless, danger sense, totem bear), level 10-11 fighter(know your enemy+maneuvers etc.+resilientDEX feat), level 12 barbarian ASI STR +2. Levels 13-20 fighter, level 15 extra attack(2), level 16 ASI STR +2, level 18 feat, level 20 feat.

Looks good! I would personally put your second 16 into Con rather than Dex, as it will give the same unarmored AZ, and I value Hitpoints, and Con saves more than a +1 to initiative (yhat you'll get advantage on later), and Dex saves (that you'll also get advantage on later).

But that is just personal preference.

I think this build is very versatile. It can do decent damage and it can tank the dex saves like a boss. Also ranged weapons are an option if fighting a flying creature.

That 16 DEX is because of medium armor master feat. You know raging in heavy armor isn't possible. Plus sneaking can be fun.

I'm comparing Ftr 11 / Barb 9 with Ftr 12 / Barb 8. Is one die of Brutal Critical and an extra pip of rage damage worth giving up a feat / ASI?

In my opinion, that's a clear no. A single feat like Lucky, or Resilient Wisdom would have a lot more impact to me than one more rage damage and a brutal critical die.

The thing about this build is I was never going to get lucky or sentinel feat to my character because they don't fit =)
I just went with a different kind of build. A character that can be a dex save god basically =)

That's cool, but neither the post I was replying to nor the topic of this thread is specifically about your build.
