What race can you not bring yourself to play?

This one's for you Buttercup.

What race can you just not see yourself playing? Ever!

I've played most of them, I think. It's been many years since I've played an elf or half-elf, though. I haven't played a halfling in a long time, either but I don't have anything against them.

Of all of them, probably dwarves are my least favorite. What about you?

Halflings. I've never liked those hobbit wannabes. Although I've only ever played human and half-orc PCs (I usually DM), I could see myself playing any other PC race but halflings.

Yes, even gnomes. :)

I once tried to play an Elf, but it was silly. I was an elf, so my favored class was Wizard. OK, so what does elf get you?

-The ability to make search checks to find doors (but search isn't a wizard skill) *Hmm*
-The ability to skip sleep and 'trance' for only 2 hours (unless you are a wizard) *Useless*
-An immunity to sleep (Wizard's best save is already Will).

Well, my wizard was an elf for about ten minutes, then he became a human like all the 'normal' wizards.

Oh, and I hate gnomes beyond all belief. Maybe it's the flash-backs from Gummy bears the cartoon from my childhood.

In this and the class thread I've seen lots of questionible reasons for not liking something, but occasionally something gets posted that does not makes sense.

Why does it matter that search is cross class? Wizards can still use the skill, , it is just harder for them to get a really high bonus. It is an intelligence based skill and with the elven bonus it is doubtful one really needs to put many skill points into the skill for it to become useful.

I'm not trying to single you out here, lots of times I see people claim that because a skill is cross class for someone it makes it a useless skillw when that is obviously not true.

Elf. Never ever ever.
Dwarf and halfling I've nothing aganst, but have a feeling I'll just never play.

Well, maybe someday. But not elf. Never ever.

I've noticed I've been trending away from anything with a 20 speed. Probably because our party needs to run away too often. :)

I also have a hard time bringing myself to play a half-elf. Every time I want to, I decide to play a human instead.
