What SF RPGs do you play?

We play a game using the Fuzion rules (with some Mekton Z) in a homebrew anime setting, heavily influenced by Macross/Robotech, Dirty Pair, Ghost in the Shell, Appleseed, Cowboy Bebop, Dominion (Tank Police), BGC, Votoms, and Battle Angel Alita (among others).

Can I get a "hell yeah"? Hell yeah.

That's pretty cool. Too bad you don't live near me, that sounds like a pretty good game :)

Trinity
the old d6 Star Wars system (my that was a while ago)
Waste World
Cyberpunk
Bubblegum Crisis
Shadowrun
SLA Industries

liked all of those.

For me:
Original Traveller - oh the joy of rolling up a really good character who died in the last of their terms in character creation.

Metamorphosis Alpha

Paranoia

I'd like to play Space 1889.

SFRPGs... ah. SF was always my first love.

Traveller was the first, and still has a special place in my heart. Classic was a great starting point, and the series reached its pinnacle with MegaTraveller, which had a task system that to this day is unmatched by any SFRPG.

Almost everything after MT in the Traveller series (TNE, T4, GT) was a failure in most ways (I love Chris Foss' art in T4, but it couldn't salvage the game...)

Most SFRPGs I played since were a pale shadow of Traveller.

Star Frontiers was somewhat interesting, but somehow lacked the grandiosity of Traveller. It worked, it just never kept our interest as a group.

d6 Star Wars had the advantage of being very easy to make characters for, but I loathed the dice pool system and in general, the system just did not stack up to better SFRPGs of the era.

Shatterzone had promise, but felt rather hollow compared to Traveller in that is was missing most of the meat... and the chargen wasn't even as good as it's predescessor TORG.

I tried spacemaster for a while. It had some promising bits too, but the accounting was too much for my players.

Alternity had promise of being the next Traveller, but it was not to be. It had some odd points and was marketed poorly and finally killed by the decision to promote only a few core systems, and they chose SAGA (retch) over alternity to do Marvel.

I tinkered with my own SF game for a while, but decided I liked playing games more than designing them. It was interesting though. Its system was sort of a cross between MegaTraveller's robust task system and James Bond 007's percentile method.

d20 Star Wars was great, and we played it for a while. IMO, it was soooo much better than WEG SW. WEG SW feels rather "kiddy" to my by way of comparison. But alas, I think I am not as fond of the franchise as I once was, and my enthusiasm wanes.

I have T20, and think it is a great book, but have not had a chance to run a campaign. I have this half baked idea of scrapping the Traveller Imperium setting and running a campaign based on the Master of Orion backdrop.

Star Frontiers-the alien races (Yazirians, Dralasites and Vrusks) were cool! :)

Played MechWarrior briefly..guess that's why I don't remember much about it.

Also played in a game that used GURPS rules and had Cyberpunk, ShadowRun and horror elements mixed in...all in all a pretty cool and enjoyable game!

Back in the day I tried FASA's Star Trek and Doctor Who games, and maybe a session or two of Gamma World. I'm a big Star Frontiers fan, though I only play the ship-to-ship game these days. I played a couple sessions of MechWarrior too.

These days Classic Traveller is my sci-fi game of choice. I've given some thought to running a BESM/Mecha d20 game.

Traveller (still my preferred sci-fi), Shadowrun, old Star Trek and Star Wars. I also played mech-warrior in the late 80's.

I own d20 Traveller, but I have yet to find a sci-fi game to play since d20 came out.

I don't like to play Star Wars, d20 or otherwise, because it is like FR, I know too much about it. Plus the mechanics have yet allowed a Jedi, or Sith, to be the way I envision them.

I've played Traveller, Cyberpunk, Shadowrun, Star Wars and others.

I still play Traveller, and occassionally Cyberpunk. Those were always my two favorites.

You people who tried Classic Traveller and were turned off by character deaths during creation and the lack of advancement should try T20. You can't die during character creation, and you advance in levels just like in D&D.

MegaTraveller
This has been my fave incarnation of Traveller ever since its release. (Fortunately for me, a LOT of other gamers agree with me and it is not too much of an issue finding MT players or games if you ask around). The best rebuild of the classic traveller system without the extensive rebuild that went into some of the later versions.

ShadowRun
Played it a bit in 1e, but got fed up with the power imbalance. Played it twice in 3e, but my gamers are all CyberPunk gamers and don't grok the SR system - nor the fantasy / cyber mix.

CyberPunk
Ahhh... CyberPunk. I won't even begin to discuss my obsession with this game other than to point you at my CyberPunk website - http://www.ambient.on.ca/cpunk

Every Other CyberPunk Game
I've run every other CyberPunk genre game on the market, to my knowledge. If nothing else, as a chance to look for ideas we as a group could move into our CP game.

Gamma World
I'm a Gamma World junky. I *LOVE* third edition. My players really enjoy Omega World.

Star Frontiers
Played this for a few years. My first SciFi RPG. A lot of fond memories of this.

Star Wars d6
Couldn't stand it. But I blame the GM more than the system.

Star Wars d20
We like this one a lot. Especially with the revised rules. But it's no Traveller.

DragonStar
While interesting, I looked for more of a Dune feeling in the game and ended up giving up on it as published. Instead, I run a DragonStar Rokugan crossover game that we are all enjoying a LOT.

Robotech
We had a core of Robotech fans so this was a lot of fun, regardless of the system.

Paranoia
Had a few rousing games, but hard to play for more than a few sessions.
