What the Abyss does this dream mean?

Hey, all you pop-psychies out there!

I've been having the same dreams (well theme) for a long time now. I finally comitted wrote it down so I could remeber it.

I now researh has been done about the meanings of dreams, so I'd see if any of you know what it could be.

Last night, I dreamed I was being chased, well hunted down. I was aboard a starship/star base, orbitind mall; something really big in space. Well, some people were trying to track me down & take something I had (or info I possessed). Lots of running around, chasing through corridors then I finally lose them by going running down the escalator into the electronics department.

There I meat up with my contact, Ambassaodr J'kar from Babylon 5. He talks about having the last space-ship of his people. Which I tell him of cousre he does, as the ship wouldn't even exist if I hadn't used a Time-Dilation to steal if for him in the first place.

That's sort of where the dream ends.

The main idea, of a chase scene seems to be the only dreams I've been having over a year now. Along Freways, in cities, skyscapers, etc. Seems I'm being chased by someone.

This ain't like Resident Evil/Jason type of "Running from Doom" dreams. It's more like Smokey & the Bandit/Blues Brothers comedic chase scenarios. Never in real danger, just a lot of running away & hiding.

I figure my subconcious is trying to tell me something at this point.

Plus, I keep waking up really tired as I dreamed I spent the whole night running.

Actually, I do have one other dream. I dream I'm suffering from Insomnia (which I do suffer from) & can't get to sleep. Eventually, I realize (in the dream), that I'm Dreaming that I can't get to sleep, but that I'm really asleep so that If I wake up I won't be thinking I can't get to sleep anymore. That's when I wake up, realize it's 2 in the morning & then can't get back to sleep. Sometimes the waking up is STILL a dream, and I eventually realize & THEN wake myself up. Sometimes, this, too, is a dream. Once, I 'woke' up over 15 times before actually waking up. It sucks.

Every person has his/her own symbolism that takes shape in their dream; hence I don't think other people may interpret your dreams correctly.

In any case: you should also consider your feelings in those dreams (fear, anger, love, whatever), as much as the symbolism. Then, note that many nightmares are a symbolical revival of birth trauma, so even if you interpret them correctly... so what?

The dream about being insomniac must really suck though.

You have no idea. There are few things worse than lieing awake at night staring at the clock as the clock rolls over to 1:00 am, then realize "Wait, I didn't leave the cieling fan on, I MUST be DREAMING this! No wait, don't wake up!"

"Crap" Look at clock: (12:30). Oh, well, I can go watch the late Sportscenter. "Wait, I didn't leave the door shut. I must be dreaming. Wait NO!"

"Crap" Look at clock (11:45). Stare at clock for a few hours, trying to Will myself to sleep.

BEEP, BEEEP, BEEEP. Wake Up, see alarm going off & clock saying its 6 in the morning.

Boy, did I get a good night's sleep. Grumble, Grumble.

Since you're dreaming about Babylon 5, time dilation, and spaceships, my guess would be that your subconcious is trying to tell you that your nerd factor is skyrocketing to dangerously high levels.

I think there is something very important that you are not doing...and you sub-conscious is telling you to get off your keister and make it happen. Might be a job change, a relationship that you need to reconcile/fix/get right or an important goal that you have given up on.

It isn't something life-threatening, per se (hence the "Smokey and the Bandit" feel), such as quitting smoking, giving up drugs or losing 100 lbs (not that any of these apply to you), but it is deep-seated hope/desire/need that you either don't have the courage to try or have attempted in the past that needs to be completed and/or fixed.

The item they keep trying to take from you is your fear of trying or inability to let go of whatever is preventing you from moving forward. The ship represents the goal/dream that you need to achieve...you have the means ("Time-Dilation"), but you won't give up the fear and get on board the ship.

How's that? Do I get the Chief Advisor to Pharoh job ;)!

As Sigmund Freud best put it on the holodeck, "Sometimes the cigar is just a cigar". :D

I'm no expert, so Old One might be right, but then again it might just be mental noise. Recurring dreams don't always have to mean something. And it's not the only dream you're having; it's just the only dream you can remember when you wake up.

There's a thing called lucid dreaming that you could practice to change your dream. I don't know the specifics of how it works, but basically you can start taking control of your dreams and make them go where you'd like them to by recognizing that it is a dream. Supposedly.

The starship/star base, orbiting mall: This is a place floating in the darkness where there should be a sense of safety(starbase) or having all your needs fulfilled (mall). Then you are being chased and lose your pursuers in the electronics department, and then you speak about a time-dilation device.

So, you are in fact wanting to return to the womb, a place of safety where things are taken care of for you; the time when your parents took care of you. But you cannot, so you instead seek refuge in technology, trying to make your life easier and to hide from the real world.

How's that?

I can make up horoscopes as well. ;)
