D&D 4E What will be your 4e setting?

If you can make Dragonlance fit 4E without too much obvious forcing of either setting (which has established certain 1E game elements as Bovinae Sacrae) or system, I will be impressed. I won't start to like the setting again, but I'll be impressed. ;)

Well, I can only guarantee that it will work for me, which may or may not work for you. :) But yeah, I don't see anything so far that should create problems.

Cheers,

I'll probably be either in the middle of or nearing the conclusion of a SWSE-based Ivalice campaign around the time 4e releases. It's unlikely I'll either convert or jump campaigns, so I expect to be a player in 4e before I get the chance to run it. As such, I'll probably be playing an undefined-wider-world Points of Light game, since most of the other D&D DMs in my group tend to cleave fairly close to the game's core assumptions.

When I do get around to running it, even if it's only for a test campaign, I and my players probably won't want to jump back into Ivalice. Possibly I'll pick up again with Spelljammer, but that would require a ton of conversion work.

I might actually do an undefined-wider-world Points of Light game, perhaps with a strong element of the feywild. It sounds sword and sorcery enough to suit my tastes far better than the high fantasy stylings of D&D past.

Hussar - I'm glad to know I wasn't the only intrigued by those maps.

Personally, I'm holding off my Drasconis campaign "launch" until 4e comes out; I plan on working on that campaign world and running with it.

When we first play 4e, though, I think it'll be set in a world that I have no real connection to. Varisia might be a good bet, running some converted adventures, but I have a feeling I'll just play whatever free adventures/cheap wotc adventures I can get my hands on, until I get a feel for the system and start writing my own.

While 3e Dark Sun never worked very well, I'd be interested to see if it'd work in 4e. Probably not, but I'd be willing to give it a try.

Homebrew.

Though I'll use the "points of light" concept as a base. Add and subtract gods as needed. Add and subtract races as needed.

Start with a hometown and surrounding area. Build from there as needed.

Oh, and after the PC's finally get out into the ocean.... Islands. With Pirates, Ninjas, and Dinosaurs. :D

Hopefully Monkeys and Robots too! :D

We'll probably end up playing in the same home brew we're playing in now, though more than likely with an entirely new party, and taking place after this campaign's events. Normally, I would be concerned with adapting, but it sounds like 4E might actually fit the setting's conceits better than 3.5 does.

I think if I end up running a game right when 4E comes out (which is sorta 50/50 at this point) I'm gonna man up and do a Points of Light fly by the seat of my GMing pants campaign.

Really flex my DnD muscles.
