I think this is so cool - your family and your wife's family all coming together. :) That's the stuff warm fuzzies are made of. I try to make it work with my family and the hubby's family, but my family is a little crazy and his family is... well... pretty much like the Cleavers.

Yeah, it's pretty nice that they all get along so well. Makes holidays much easier when everyone can be in one place. :)
 

For the first time in many years, we went nowhere, and had nobody over. In fact, it wasn't until Thursday morning that we realized we had NO food in the house and that no grocery stores were open.

By 6 p.m. we were getting hungry, but even the Chinese takeout was closed. My wife scoured the internet and discovered that the McCormick and Schmick's Seafood restaurant at the Biltmore Hotel was open. A quick phone call. "A table for two? No problem; Come on down."

A quiet dinner out alone. Very nice, but next year, I'm sure we'll return to hosting for a swarm of displaced sailors.
