White Wolf viciously attacks everyone who roleplays for fun

Personally, gamer vs. gamer attacks seems about the silliest thing that we can do.

Whether you hate LARPs, miniature wargaming, card games, tabletop, rpg videogames, SCA, RPGA, Convention gaming, a specific gameworld, or just some system, the end result is just more hate in a niche market. I find this tends to drive anyone who isn't normally interested to stay even farther away due to the "culture" of the hobby.

My brother once said that arguing about the rules and fighting over styles IS part of playing RPGs. I like to think he's wrong.

I just got the new WoD and Vampire: The Requiem books. Love them and I put them right beside my new Eberron book.
I don't see a problem, and I don't see an attack.

In other news, Mr. Skemp made me laugh.

Damn funny thread. I love this place.

Oh, and to the OP, I think in your bloodlust you chose the wrong quote with which to make your point. Just can't see it.

I usually find myself in the Anti-WoD boat... I can't stand the world, the mechanics, and LARPing strikes me as just silly. All that being said.... I've got to say it...

...You're reading way too much into this...

So perhaps you should try what I do, if WoD products annoy you, and you dislike the game in general, don't buy them.

I would argue that divisiveness tends to hurt all of us. I have played a few White Wolf games and enjoyed them. I have had D&D games where there was no dice-rolling and hours of role-playing and diplomacy. On other nights, I have had characters participate in battle after bloody battle.

If we exclude people with different playing styles or who like different games, then everyone loses. I think that we all have something to learn from each other. However, sometimes divisiveness and elitism get into the way of people having fun.

:) I agree with what you're saying. It seems a little ridiculus to find yourself on the - FlowChart of RPG Geekdom - and then point up at the "elitists" and down and the "wierdos".

WOW! White Wolf declares WAR on role playing gamers!
Sounds exciting! but maybe you should take a second to re-read the "attack"!

"Many roleplaying games are more concerned with rules and statistics than the drama created within the game.

and, judging from my experience, this is _true_. Now, my experience can be different from yours... but i think that a billion forums on new feats or which rule is more unbalanced and just a handful of great adventure inspiring threads tend to back my view more than yours. Anyway...

Some people call those roll-playing games, since they're more focused on dice-rolling than on role-playing...Just don't get lost in the Ivory Tower. Don't deride those who see gaming as a fun hobby (which it is), or those whose roleplaying stories don't aim higher. Instead, encourage and persuade players to stretch their boundries. Storytelling is about acheiving something great through an interactive tale, but not at the expense of fun. "

Now, where did you get that silly notion of yours, that white wolf thinks that games have to be serious and cannot be fun?
More over: did you ever read one of their manuals? saying that:

WW games are JUST as mechanical and dice-dependent (and in sheer numbers roll more dice) than D&D.
makes me wonder if you ever opened those books.
I stopped buying them ages ago (when they decided to discontine wraith: the oblivion), and i never liked a bunch of their games (mages and werewolf). i thought that their fixation with superimposing a meta-plot on their game worlds was a little too heavy for my tastes.
That said, I remember to have read more than once, that every dice roll must be ignored if it will interrupt the story-plot trivially. dice rolling is reserved for dramatic actions, like important combats.
I remember I could create a character in 15 minutes. I never could do the same with AD&D or d20... in fact, I could do it only with the original D&D.

I don't want to defend white wolf, as they have done their share of "mistakes" (as long as I'm concerned!). but your post, here, is just a pile of non-sense. don't take it personally, but if you dislike white wolf so much, you should go protesting on their forums... not here!

So, how do all you non-WW players feel about what WW thinks of you?
great. my copy of GURPS 4th edition deluxe is approaching... a little too slowly, maybe, but it is coming. then I will have a rule-light game to end all those un-dramatic and funny games out there. ;)
