Who’s your vote for the next James Bond?

The Cold War does seem to be an important part of the mythos - without it, the events and setup seem to get harder and harder to believe, I find.
Yeah, that's why almost all the Mission: Impossible movies have rogue secret agents as their baddies. Which was cool when Bond did it in Goldeneye, but by this point in the MI series it feels like the world would have far fewer existential threats if the various intelligence agencies had called it quits after the cold war.

Of course, we're back to some pretty strained international tensions these days, but Hollywood seems a lot less prepared to engage with such plots. Most of the nations they could paint as baddies would either count as a large portion of their international revenue, or could hack their social media to bits on a whim.

If you look at the original MI series, they go from evil foreign powers to organised crime in the later (70s) seasons.

I remember my first Bond theatrical experience. It was Goldeneye back in '95 and my buddy and I drove through a bad snow storm to go see it. We loved it! The N64 video game was amazing. It was hard to find a house anywhere in American that didnt have a copy.
Gotta love driving through snowstorms. We had a really bad snow and ice storm here in Buffalo in Oct 2006 that I had to drive through. The weight of the ice and snow caused a lot of damage. Anyone interested Google Lake Storm Aphid.

I just watched a documentary a month or two ago on Nintendo and the Goldeneye game was a big part of it. Sorry I can't remember what service it was on, maybe Paramount+, or the name of it "Playing With Power" could be, but it was worth watching.
Prime has at least a handful of them.
I'll check it out, thanks.
