Not just that. It made $4B–half of its entire total—with just the Craig films. It’s more popular now than it’s ever been.This. The reason it has made so much is that it’s been running much longer than those other franchises.

I saw that someone beat me to it as soon as I posted that link. I'd just woken up and for some reason my push notifications from windows (not EN World) are doubling, tripling down and keep coming after I've already opened and read them. Who knows no big deal, but I just miss some posts here and there. Is there an echo in here?![]()
I always thought of the franchise as something that my father's generation liked and just surprised that younger generations have embraced it apparently as much as they have for it to maintain its success. I knew it still had a following but didn't think it was nearly as much as it is.Oh yeah, I mean the series goes back to 1962 and has always been a big money maker for the most part, with a few exceptions.
It is interesting how it stays so strong over some many decades by basically never changing the basic stucture.I always thought of the franchise as something that my father's generation liked and just surprised that younger generations have embraced it apparently as much as they have for it to maintain its success. It does change. The Roger Moore films became increasingly comic; the Brosnan films became ridiculous towards the end; OHMSS tried flirting with romance; and the Craig films copied Bourne with violence and cynicism. It is interesting how it stays so strong over some many decades by basically never changing the basic stucture.
I agree. I think it would be cool to branch out, but I can see why diehard fans would be opposed. I can watch one maybe two movies at any given time, but I've never been a big fan. To your point not because they're bad but because the basic premise doesn't change much from film to film. I will admit I haven't read the novels and only saw a few movies with each of the different actors playing Bond. Even then it was in passing, catching bits and pieces of them rather than watching them from start to finish. It is interesting how it stays so strong over some many decades by basically never changing the basic stucture.
Bond in the novels makes Conan look like a progressive liberal.I will admit I haven't read the novels
I liked the 2006 Casino Royale. It toned down the hokeyness, was more grounded and made the character more believable.the Craig films copied Bourne with violence and cynicism.
It goes through cycles. From Russia With Love was more grounded, The Living Daylights was more grounded.I liked the 2006 Casino Royale. It toned down the hokeyness, was more grounded and made the character more believable.
