Who’s your vote for the next James Bond?

It goes through cycles. From Russia With Love was more grounded, The Living Daylights was more grounded.
I never saw From Russia With Love but vaguely recall seeing the Living Daylights. Is that the one with Christopher Walken and Grace Jones and the fight on the Eiffel Tower at the end?

I liked the 2006 Casino Royale. It toned down the hokeyness, was more grounded and made the character more believable.
Yeah, the tone does go from cartoon-ish white hat cowboy to haunted anti-hero. By not changing I just meant its Bond and bond alone who saves the day, bangs a bunch of women, repeats the same story over and over and over, etc..

No, that’s A View to a Kill (the last Roger Moore). The Living Daylights is the first Timothy Dalton - Bond is sent to stop the assassination of a Russian defector and smells a rat. Maryam d’Abo plays the would-be assassin and cello player. TLD is relatively romantic and Dalton is a compassionate, thoughtful Bond - my favourite version.

It does change. The Roger Moore films became increasingly comic; the Brosnan films became ridiculous towards the end; OHMSS tried flirting with romance; and the Craig films copied Bourne with violence and cynicism.
Yeah. The tone of each Bond actor is basically a different genre. It reinvents itself each time and that’s why it has endured. And it will reinvent itself with whoever comes next.

I just caught the end of the A View to a Kill at my girlfriend's house maybe 1993. Don't think I saw another Bond movie until 2006.

I remember my first Bond theatrical experience. It was Goldeneye back in '95 and my buddy and I drove through a bad snow storm to go see it. We loved it! The N64 video game was amazing. It was hard to find a house anywhere in American that didnt have a copy.
