Who else feels like avoiding the family this Christmas eve?

Free from the hustle and bustle of the family in the next room, I decided to stop in while I'm actily avoiding stress.

How does everyone else handle it?
Does it even stress you at all?
Are you bummed cause all those crazies are off celebrating their crazy holidays, leaving the boards at 3/4 the normal strength?

My secret is I live alone. So, I have to travel to see family making it easy to not be there if I choose. But I love the holidays so I'm not bummed about it at all.

I'm often bothered by family. I'm better than they are and smarter. I tell them this as often as I can. I'm joking.

Some of them do bother me. When they do I just leave the room. If I'm really feeling punchy I say something to make them leave.

I've taken several 5 minute breaks from the general Christmas-ness in the lounge room today and on Christmas eve, but only because it's a bit overwhelming and (sometimes) boring.

Plus Grease is on. Nuff said.

Just to interate, I love my family. As long as their not being pushy or patronizing or sarcasitic or mean or are bickering or talk down about people or spreading rumors or getting blasted or telling me a boring story or making infuriating remarks or...

You know what? I really do love my family

Happy holidays

I sometimes start to feel overwhelmed if there is a lot of family gathered for a holiday. I'd be more comfortable seeing them a few at a time over the couple weeks around Christmas. With so much noise and bustle (and in my family, everyone is good-natured and treats everyone else well so it's pleasant) sometimes I need to sneak away and take ten minutes to listen to the sweet sound of nothing.

And if I'm at Grandma's I can take that break in the basement where she keeps all the Christmas cookies. ;)

I really can't stand three out of four of my sisters. It takes every ounce of patience I have to keep my mouth shut and put up with them for one day. But I do it for my mom at Christmas every year.
