Who is going to be the next Comic Superhero to reach the Movie Screens?

I figure X2 will be the last X-Men movie, too much cost and tooooo many big names. See them cutting back and just doing a Wolverine movie for the third installment.
I see at least a trilogy with the current group. It will bring in a heathly chunk of cash and I'm sure most of the cast is signed for another flick. :)

Besides, the only really big names are Stewart (who likes the role and I'm sure will be in it if asked), Berry, McKellen (same as Stewart) and maybe Jackman. There are some other well-knowns in there but I wouldn't consider them big names.

Man-Thing's one of your lesser-known Marvel anti-heroes, a large, mossy mutant who tromps around the swamps avenging environmental wrongs. Sure, he gets confused with DC's Swamp Thing, another marsh-dwelling guy who turned into a monster, but there's room in the world for both of them, wouldn't you say?
.

Nah never liked Man-Thing whereas Swampy was one of my favourites:D - got all the issues until they started getting weird with the whole going back in time and planting the first seed which grew into the Garden of Eden thingy - oh and the Holy Grail is my Heart!?;(...

The only way to do Watchmen Justice is a mini-series, IMO. I have a cast in mind, but its slightly biased. The only way to do Dr. Manhattan is CGI. Claudia Christian as the female superhero (forgot character name), Jerry Doyle as the Comedian, Bruce Boxlnlitner(SP?) as Ozmandias, and Ed Wassar as Rorshach.

I wonder if David Hayter will keep the story as it is written or try to adapt it to the changing times? I mean if you are to have the Comedian as a Vietnam veteran you can only stage the plot during the eighties or early nineties. The comic should work beautifully since it's set in an alternate universe (from ours). The plot relies heavily on the events of the 20th century and The Watchmen - the movie could sort of sum it all up.

However, this makes me fear that the Hollywood people will completely rewrite the story to fit with the present. I.e. Comedian not being a Vietnam veteran and Dr Manhattan not being a nuclear pioneer. Instead they might get the bright idea that DNA gone haywire is responsible for Dr Manhattan's (considerable) powers as they did in Spiderman. I won't like that very much. *Cross fingers*

Here is some old info. Hayter will direct as well. Sounds like he wants to be faithful to the source material...

Dr. Strange is the way I would go. It crys FX, horror and fantasy.

I just worry when it will be enough, when the number of bad comic book made into movies just keep people from seeing them.

Here is some new news on the Superman film:
-------------------------------
"Josh Hartnett has elected not to play "Superman". What? after all that! Yep, The Hollywood Reporter says Hartnett, who tested for the project, has elected not to portray the Man of Steel, so a new trio of actors has emerged as top choices: Brendan Fraser, Paul Walker and newcomer Matthew Bomer, whose only credits include the daytime dramas "Guiding Light" and "All My Children." Warners is trying to make test deals for the actors, with hopes of putting them in front of the camera sometime next week."

Brendan Fraser as Superman?

That was a dumb idea when Wizard casted it (in "Casting Call") and it still is.

Warner's best bet so far is to let Smallville run its 4-year course and begin the next stage in Clark's life with a movie trilogy.

Sometime ago, for a movie magazine contest, I casted a live-action version of the Justice League cartoon. I casted Richard Burgi (Sentinel, 24) as Superman, Jim Caviezel (Monte Cristo) as Batman, Jennifer Connelly (Hulk) as Wonder Woman and Arnold Vosloo (Mummy) as the Martian Manhunter.

Daredevil, SpiderMan and the Hulk on the way, it will seem like a goldmine until one of these bombs in a huge way.

Well, Marvel's track record is doing great with Blade, Daredevil, Spiderman and X-Men! Six sequels out of the first four films.

As for the first BOMB, my bet is on Silver Surfer to tank, although 2004's Fantatic Four could bomb before it, as there are rumors that the script still needs a lot of work that it may not get due to a tight production schedule.

I read an article about a version of a script for a WATCHMEN movie, it was like 12 years ago. I forgot who they said wrote it, but one of the changes was they had the hero's try and stop terrorists at the statue of liberty, they failed and the terrorists destroyed it. Because they failed, that caused the public fallout, thats why the superheros dissapeared. The public blamed them for the destruction of statue of liberty. Interesting now considering what really happened on 9/11.
