Who is the coolest death god(dess)?

Nemorga from Scarred Lands is quite interesting.

Here, here! :) Let's a have a nice neutral god of entropy, endings and the dead.

Btw I always considered Orcus the Demon Prince of the Undead, not death.

Nerull is the coolest god of death IMO. I like Wee Jas and she has her place, but Nerull is quite awesome, especially considering his appearance in Artifact of Evil by Gary Gygax. That was killer (literally).

Kelemvor just doesn't cut it for me. I can't imagine a lamer god of death. I don't even know who the god of death is in Eberron. I think the only other god of death who deserves honorable mention is Hades of the Olympian pantheon in Greek mythology.

Wee Jas without a doubt. She is a vamp!

Nerull is OK, but he's the stereotypical Grim Reaper type as others have said. Kelemvor who replaced the Nerull-like Myrkul is a very lame death god indeed.

Cheers

Fritz Leiber's Death, from his Fafhrd & Grey Mouser stories.

A passionateless deity work always fulfilled his quota of death, as mandated by even higher powers. Death even favors heroes/adventurers like Fafhrd & Grey Mouser, since they often cheat death & cause death through their adventures. Besides, Death knows he'll get everyone, it's just a matter of when.

I have mixed feelings about Kelemvor. His hatred of undead is a nice change from the typical Evil God of the Dead who encourages his priests to turn every shabby corpse they find in to a zombie.

The potential for conflict between Kelemvor and Jergal could be interesting (but hasn't been up to this point).

I actually like the way the clergy of Kelemvor is set up. Lots of former Myrkul worshippers disenchanted with the new regime. The role of some priests of Kelemvor as part undead hunters, part roving funeral directors is pretty cool character concept.

But, since Kelemvor in both human and divine form, for lack of a better word, is pretty much a meathead...I vote for Vol, despite not technically being a goddess.

Mictlantecuhtli and Mictecacihuatl, the lord and lady of the underworld in Aztec myth. The only example of a married pair of death gods I can think of.

Wee Jas is my favorite - who can say no to a redheaded goddess of love, even if she does also happen to be responsible for death, magic, death magic, and possibly the collapse of an entire civilization?

The Blood of Vol is my favorite death-based religion, though. It's a very logical, well thought out cult. I could see everyday people actually practicing it, not just adventurers or villains.

Demiurge out.
