Why do you play D&D?

Maybe what your looking for is why I define it as fun.

I spend many fun hours with my wife and kids playing a game we all like. I get to share a lot of my life history with my kids telling them about old gaming buddies and how we handled the adventure they just finished back in the day, and my kids pay attention to it because they are interested.

Its a fun creative outlet that is even cooler now that I am helping my kids figure out how to design their worlds and make them cohesive enough to work.

ITs fun because my kids have told me, "Its hard to be the DM."

In a nutshell, its great fun on many levels.

I used to play D&D because of the people I played with. Best.Friends.Ever.

Now that they've moved away, I don't game, so I stay busy publishing an rpg zine. It's fun and gives me an excuse to tinker with the rules.

Check it out at www.IridiaZine.net. I 'm really hoping to share it with as many people as possible. :)

I play D&D to adventure in Eberron, The Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk, Planescape and other cool worlds. The rules just seem to come with the worlds, for some reason. ;)

I played D&D last weekend because there was a game going on, I had lots of time to kill before my HERO game started, and I had a D&D character on my laptop but no Magic cards.

More generally, I would play D&D (3.5 or Basic) if a GM I was particularly partial to was running it instead of a system I liked better, and I had an empty time slot to fill that meshed with when his sessions were going on.
