Jack - Sounds like fun :) The normal D&D pantheon is a bit wussy anyways.
That depends on how much your DM thinks the character needs to be killed - after all, when mortal armies aren't working, what's to stop several of them from deciding to send a few thousand Solars after you?

If every member of the pantheon hate Ur-priests, what's to stop the 'enlightened' ones from sending a horde of succubi, balors, and mariliths after yo scaly butt?

There's a catch; Gated creatures can only be at-will controlled for a number of rounds equal to your caster level, and that takes concentration, so you can only do one at a time.
BZZT. Wrong. Gated creatures fight for one battle OR for any other service that can be completed in 1 round/level. This is clearly a single battle we're talking about. No concentration is needed.

Anyone you tell about your character will know you as a munchkin?

If we're talking about spell-like wishing, then I simply ask for a simulacrum of a dream larvae to pop up 40 feet away from me. Then I yell at it to go kill "those guys down there". Spell like wishes don't cost XP...

Depends on how one parses the phrase "Fighting for you in a single battle or taking any other actions that can be accomplished within 1 round per caster level counts as an immediate task"; is that "(Fighting for you in a single battle or taking any other actions) that can be accomplished within 1 round per caster level counts as an immediate task" or "(Fighting for you in a single battle) or (taking any other actions that can be accomplished within 1 round per caster level) counts as an immediate task". Could go either way; depends on your DM. Likewise, it specifically states that with such a use, "The creature departs at the end of the spell." - which mostly implies a use of the non-instantaneous portion of the duration up, which limits the duration to "concentration (up to 1 round/level)" despite the 1 fight clause.

forget wish

dealing with an army at 17th level is easy for a wizard. or anyone with a high "use magic device" skill. anyone can use a scroll; Of Gate for example.

Gate is an easy way to deal with an army, especially if you are evil.
For example: I gate in 10,000,000 balors.

the spell says, "can only control upto. . ." not canonly gate in so may. . . so as long as i dont' care about the plane i'm on then i can almost always destroy my enemies. now, the real question is, " how do i get out of this mess?" easy, i create my own demi plane with wish. or genesus or whatever. if nothing else, planeshift to your happy place.

wish is not the ultimate power, gate and shapechange i feel are much more problematic.
