Worst Beers Ever.

A buddy of mine is putting a tase test together in the next few weeks featuring the worst beers in the world. He wants the kind of beers that make Miluakee's Best Ice seem like fine German brew. So, for all of you with horsepiss/beer knowledge, please, tell me about the beers that curdle your stomach with one sip!

Guinness! Without a doubt the worst, and most overestimated beer in the world.

Close seconds would include Odense Giraf, Hancock Årgangsøl, and other not worth mentioning.

The beer that will win this hands down is Baltimore's own "Natty Bo's" or National Bohemian, made by Pabst Brewing company.

It's terrible taste is only accented by the shivers given when you hear the Baltimoreans pronounce it. *shiver* Ugh...the Baltimore "O"...

Oh please. There may be a valid argument that Guinness is overrated but to call it the worst beer is absolutely ridiculous in a world that contains such foulness as Olde English 800, PBR, Red White & Blue, Schlitz (guess what it's nickname is?), Busch, Sleeman, Tuborg and Hamm's.

The holy trinity of nastiness?

Natural Light
Beast (Milwaukee's Best)
Meister Chow....err Brau (MB is also affectionately known as BM or "Bowel Movement")

PS Xath is right Natty Bo's is right up there.

Schaefer's.

Drank it aplenty when I was young and stupid. Got it pretty cheap and that was all that mattered. But it is thinner than any product Budweiser has ever put out, and most closely resembles curdled malt-water.

Sleeman's not bad. It's certainly better than generic Molson or Labatt crap and doesn't deserve to be in the infamous company of Busch, Pabst and Schlitz. Most Sleeman varieties are at least drinkable, although their new "low carb" is supposed to be nasty.

I'm going to limit my choices for "worst beer" to beers which I have actually dared to drink. I'm a fussy beer drinker and I've avoided plenty of low-brow stuff (like "malt liquor", the "dry" craze, the cheap "strong ale" craze and now the "low carb beer" craze).

Just to let you know my prejudices - I'm a Canadian who's partial to British beers, Belgian beers, Mexican cervesas (sp?) and Canadian microbrews. I'm underwhelmed by Canada's big name beers and generally repulsed by American big name beers (although some US microbrews are quite nice).

Worst Canadian Beer (that I've actually tasted): Black Label (horrid aftertaste)

Worst American Beer (that I've actually tasted): Budweiser (godawful stuff - oddly, the version of the stuff brewed under licence for the Canadian market is only nasty tasting rather than outright vile)

Worst European Beer (that I've actually tasted): toss up between Grolsch and Kronenbourg... both are just vile tasting...

After a bit of thought, I'd have to say Kronenbourg was the most offensive beer to ever hit my palate. I'm sure somebody out there must appreciate it, but I can still conjure up its strong nasty taste and lingering aftertaste 15 years after the first and last time I drank it... ugh...

Hard to judge

Probably the worst tasting beer I ever had was EKU 28 Kulminator, which is only there to "prove" how alcohol-laden you can make a beer.

Then there are a couple of microbrews that have gone under (one had so much sediment it counted as low grade polishing grit) and a beer from England called Badger Beer from around Wells, but I think my bad memories of that are more tied in with a rather vile publican...

Ahh, you refer to 'Baa Ice'? ;)

Jacob's Best. Forget who bottles it, it's like the reject brew from some company. Like $6 a case... so it's what we got in college all the time. Blecch. If that's Jacob's best, I don't want his worst. Stuff gives you a splitting headache as soon as you drink it, it's that nasty. Tastes like the can.
