Would you & your group roleplay on camera?

It would depend on the reasoning and the intent of the person doing the taping. I'm not against the idea, but I don't think it would be all that interesting.

Personally, probably not. Admit it though, it may be geeky to watch other gamers in action but you'd watch it with morbid fascination. I've been toying with the idea of creating a "reality" TV show based gaming.

I would do it, what do I care what some strangers think of me? If anything, it would make me somewhat famous! lol

William Hung is famous too, and doesnt care what strangers think of him either. The ignorant ass. :p

I've thought for awhile that video taping a game could be done well. The real trick would be in the editing and in the players themselves. First, you'd need a moderately attractive group of players. Not that they'd all need to be supermodels or anything, but the last thing the world needs is a CPM on video roleplaying his lesbian drow assassin.

The editor is what could make it all work. Just a static camera taping a whole session would be boring and unintelligible. Different angles, and cutting out all the rules-talk would be required. Add in some good role players and 'reality tv' style confessions and you could really have something.

I actually did play some on camera with them - at least, I refereed a head-to-head minotaur vs. dwarf match between Riley and Mystika. They're cool folks, really knowledgeable & passionate about the classic old-school modules and with a firm grasp of the most fun parts of D&D.

For those in the "hell no" category - would you be offended by your DM even making the suggestion? Is the #1 problem for you the running for president factor - that this is something you don't want on your public record - or is it that you think you'd be too self-conscious to enjoy playing?

And for those with a maybe response, like Crothian, what kind of assurances of intent would you want to have before you went ahead?

It would actually deal with some legal stuff like who owns the rights to the film, what assurances do I have that this will not end up on Funniest Home videos, things like that.
