At any point in the expanded universe, does the Empire experiment with training Force-using troops? Stormtroopers with blasters and lightsabers, anything like that...?

thanks!

The Royal Guard (the red ones) were supposedly trained in the Force, at least mildly. There was also a more elite Royal Guard that was moreso trained. To make this SWRPG related, the Dark Side Sourcebook gives Royal Guards 3 levels of Force Adept.

There are also the emporer's hand, those assassin people. And what is stopping you from doing that yourself. My Star Wars game has a group of Imperials who use X-Wings. The Star Wars universe is HUGE, it so easy to add your own planets and people.

besides the aforementioned Royal Guards and Emperor's Hands, the DSSB also describes the Imperial Inquisitors. the Rebellion Era Sourcebook (and maybe also the DSSB) mentions the Prophets of the Dark Side. all four groups are Force-using Imperials. i believe the Inquisitor prestige class even has EWP(lightsaber) as a bonus feat.

have at!! :)

In addition to all of these there are the Imperial Sovereign Protectors from the Dark Empire comic series...who would probably have a couple more levels in Force Adept than Royal Guards
