A buddy of mine orders 16 boxes as each new set is released. He then sifts through them all, and usually orders the handful of rares he didn't acquire in the initial shipment.

Being the super guy that he is, Alex will usually just give me upwards of 15-20 minis that he has triples (or more) of or simply doesn't like that much. Then I buy a couple boxes and wait for the next set to be released.

I'm looking forward to getting the roper, xorn, iron golem, Elminster, half-orc paladin and the justicator. The half-fiend ogre looks pretty wicked too!!

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but do people buy the minis just to sell them later? The balor on popularcollections.com is already selling for $23. Just seems like an easy way to make money.

Carry on. Don't mind me. :)

It's easy to make a profit, as long as you got lucky and pulled one out of a pack before spending $23 or more on packs in the first place.

I'm sure some do.

For me, that's usually not an option. Most of the miniatures I don't like, the human(oid) ones, like the Dark Cleric Mina, don't sell that well. Most of the big sellers are the figures I actually use for my game, like the deep dragon.

For others who aren't playing the game, sure. Heck, how much does a beholder go for now?

~$37 on maxminis. I guess with commons being worth a lot less than the average price of a figure would suggest, it might even out in the long run. Still, Harbringer commons typically sell for more than $2, so perhaps it's worth investing and then selling in a few years. :)

Edit: Yikes. Dritzz goes for ~$60!
