D&D 4E Your habits, considering 4e is coming

How will your gaming habits be affected by knowing that 4E is coming?

Will this change any plans for long term campaigns? Going to have your current game finish up around the time of the 4e release? Think you'll be losing gamers from your group if you try 4e?

Our campaign story has run for roughly eight years in my homebrewed world, and was coming towards "the end" before the announcement of 4th edition. Works out well in our case!

Heck, I'm already busy working up the details of the next major city and storyline for our 4th edition game. Everytime a new rules system has been launched, we've started our game over as 1st level in a city of a different country of my gaming world (the campaign world is humanocentric, high politics, low fantasy). Thus, I've worked up three great and extremely detailed cities.

Only change will be that instead of thinking about buying a book (for 3.X) and then never buying it, I just won't even think about buying it to begin with.

It won't. No derailment of ongoing campaigns, no conversion. At this point, 4e will only see use in PbP games where I'm a player and not a DM. My players have no interest in 4e and what initial optimism I had is slowly but surely being worn away.

Not at all.

No and No.

No, I don't think I'd lose any gamers. There was only one time I ever ran into the "players refusing a system" problem, and that was right after I had moved, so it was players I didn't know very well (I wanted to run 1E, they wanted to play 2E -- I ended up running BECM, which satisfied everyone, happily).

It is business as usual for my group. The announcement of 4E has zero impact on the campaign and how it is conducted.

Once 4E comes out, our group will look at it and decide when to adopt it...or not. Until then, there is too little concrete information out for me or my group to get worked up over.

I'm hoping to bring my current campaign to a close by that point. I've been running Shackled City for the last year or so, and I think we'll be just about finished by the time 4E arrives.

Sounds like a good time to start fresh to me!

No change. I'll be playing as though I won't be converting to 4th edition. Otherwise I waste all my time trying to guess about changes that may or may not be in the final edition.

Well I won't be buying any more 3rd Edition books since I will most likely convert to 4E when it is finished.

Since I am not running any D&D games at this point, it does nothing to me either way.

I doubt it, most of the people I game with have not complained too much about the new system, some of them are even looking forward to it.
