Your strangest spur of the moment online purchase?

I just bought 2 cases of Spree (the candy) from Amazon.com. I really didn't plan it, it just kinda happened.

I went there to see if they had Castle Whiterock (from Goodman Games). They do have it listed, but not from themselves and so for the MSRP, which is $100, plus no free shipping. So the heck with that.

But while I was there, I thought, why don't I look for a birthday present for my father. He's hard to shop for, because he basically hates everything. Not quite, but close.

Anyway, going through the few things he likes but I haven't already bought him, I was running out of idea, so I typed in "Mentos" (those mints that used to have those weird commercials, and you can make fountains with with Diet Coke). And I was shocked to see Amazon.com carries candy. Unfortunately, they only carry weird flavored ones or sugar free, not the ones he liked.

A couple weeks ago I had a hankering for some "Spree". A fruit flavored hard candy from Willy Wonka (now Nestle, I think). I don't know why I had it the craving, I don't normally eat sweets much anymore, but since I discovered all my winter clothes fit, I decided what the heck, might as well buy some. So I tried finding some in stores. And couldn't do it. All they had were "Chewable Spree" which looked like the original Spree, but weren't very good. I ended up giving them to my dogs. (They liked them at least. Both of them, too. One of them likes Mentos but the other just spits them out)

I wasn't sure if they even made them any more, since I know some of the Willy Wonka candies are dead (like Tart & Tinies and Zaps). But still, since I was looking in the candy section, I did a search for Spree. And they still exist, apparently, in original, non-chewable form. And Amazon sells them by the case.

36 rolls for $18. Plus $5 for shipping. But then I saw that they were having a deal, $10 off any purchase of $29 or more of Nestle/Willy Wonka candy. And $25 qualifies for free saver shipping.

So I now have 72 rolls of spree coming in the mail. When all I really wanted was one. But I guess they keep. (Either that or my summer clothes won't fit 6 months from now. )

Anyone else have any weird spur of the moment online purchases? (I would think Amazon.com would be the biggest spur of the moment place, thanks to their 1 click shopping, but any online place)

I remember Tart and Tinies! They were yummy! I saw Spree at a local shop here, but they specialize in all types of older candy in their five and dime. Not really any weird purchases here except the bag of crap off of Woot. $5 for a mystery bag of whatever they decide to throw in from their warehouse. Last time I think we got a printer.

Godzilla toys.

I was on e-bay looking for godzilla toys for my son when I saw a godzilla toy I had to have. So I bought two.

back in the days of having money.....

Remember Bottlecaps? I think WW made those too and they tasted like different soft drinks - Root Beer & Cola.

I'm pretty methodical about my online purchasing. THe only time I felt light-headed buying something online I was unsure of was DCC #35 box set, which, while on sale, was still around $60. It turned out to be a good purchase as I used some of the materials in my ongoing RPG campaign.

Probably my strangest online purchase was a hip flask with the symbol of the organization from Neon Genesis Evangelion. (EVO, I think?) It wasn't for me; it was a present for a friend of mine, who's a huge fan of the series.

NERV, actually. :)

Anyways, my strangest purchase has to be the Busou Shinki series of Japanese toys. I'm a fan of mecha style toys and action figures, but this is the first time I've ever gotten anything that could be classed into the 'Girl' figures you usually see out of Japan. I think it's all the accessories and armor they come up with that does it for me.
