"We can't do it without Hightower," replies Rosa tersely.

Rosa turns back to the shaman with a slightly disappointed look on her face. "Honored elder, I am sorry. It seems we cannot come to a consensus to help you. I thank you for your time."

Trent simply follows the group, letting the lizardfolk go on their own. After all, if he should come across the spear, then he wouldn't have to return it now, since they never agreed.

"Let's get a move on then, enough time's been wasted."

"Fine. Perhaps we can find someone else to help us." With that he turns his back to you and departs, taking his entourage with him.

Days pass.

As promised, the jungle gets thicker and thicker as you approach your destination. You guess you are a day-and-half's walk away when one of the mounts suffers a mild sprain. You find a suitable place to camp, coral the horses with felled logs, and prepare yourselves for the tough overland trek the next day. Setting out at first light the next day you make excellent progress. You predict that you should arrive at the temple mid-day on the following day.

The noises during the night are unsettling, and the Mosquitos begin in earnest; some the size of hummingbirds. Sleep comes uneasily as the heat has grown nearly unbearable. You realize that your camp is somewhat exposed in a way. A stealthy individual could sneak right on top of you and you would never know it. Setting watches helps ease some of your minds and thankfully the night is uneventful.

Again you set out the following morning on foot. It is mid-day when several of you notice that the sounds of the forest seemed to have diminished abruptly...

Rosa just has time to sound a halt...

OOC end of flashback. return to your regularly scheduled thread...
