Kickstarter have launched a Project Of Earth initiative to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Voyager probes. Shades of Vengeance have taken the idea of what might happen when a probe is picked up by an alien civilization. What’s their reaction and how do they respond. The bad news for us is it looks like they invade in Shades of Vengeance’s Era: Balam. The good news is that Shades of Vengeance are not only releasing Era: Balam in their signature Era d10 system but also for FATE and Savage Worlds.
Fresh from winning a whopping ten ENnies (7 Gold, 3 Silver) Chaosium have announced that they are doing to be producing a brand new revised and updated edition of Masks of Nyarlathotep, their globe spanning classic campaign set in 1925. Plus it’s becoming even more globe-spanning with the inclusion of a brand new chapter set in Peru.
This latest RPG crate shows promise but there are a few missteps in execution. I'd like to see the scroll without rules on it so it can be used in any version of D&D, less artwork that I could easily print myself, and props that you can actually wear.

Africa is a rich land with a history that spans the entirety of human civilization. Trying to pin down a distinct set of myths would be difficult because one could end up repeating oneself in theme if not in actual specific characters. Still, the theme of the African myths is rich with heroes of a more classic nature and tricksters abound to delight and frustrate us. In many ways they are simpler than many European myths, but the simplicity does not detract from the depth and beauty nor their utility in adventure and world building.

Starfinder dropped at Gen Con 50, and what was supposed to last through the weekend sold out in six hours on Thursday. Seriously, Paizo planned for a good reception and printed a lot more than they normally do, and it still flew out of that booth faster than a dragon late for a bison buffet. I am very proud for my friends at Paizo, especially lead designer and good buddy, Owen K.C. Stephens. Thus, the theme for this week, showcasing one of the most prolific and enjoyed writer/designers of the day.

Each week we’ll be looking at a few campaigns currently running that have caught our eye as well as occasionally speaking to some of the creators about their campaigns, or looking at some of the ‘behind the scenes’ business aspects of putting together, launching, operating and then delivering a crowdfunded project. If you have anything you’d like us to cover, or questions about anything we talk about, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment or contact me directly.
