[4e] Border Epic: Aftermath of the Celestial War (Dead.)

There have been signs of a growing planar instability deep in the underdark, possibly linked to the site of Lolth's death. Her physical body will have ended somewhere in the Astral Sea, but the location of her death will be a reservoir of power. The Priest, wizard and perhaps even the warlord (ritualist) will have noticed or received warnings that something is going on, it it will only be getting worse unless it is dealt with. You have called together those you trust, who can can handle such a venture.

A suggestion, as a god die, the powers related of her portfolio is released from her power and become uncontrolled. So a portal from the plane of shadow could have been open, spiders could have establish themselves there and grow to never seen before strength, a compulsive force make evryone there goes paranoid and force the people to turn upon there friends, ect...

The drows would have detect that and would want to close teh protal, but probably a few more power hungry would try to tap into that power for themselves or there house.

Okay...getting a basic outline together here. Leaving out specifics, because I want to make room for adapting to this campaign world and events.

---
In a Nutshell:
Aridha is a 'plains elf,' which are elves from wild savannah and veldts to the south of the campaign starting point. Possibly across a sea... They have some minor cosmetic differences, but are mechanically identical to PHB elves. They organize in nomadic tribal groups that follow prey herds around in seasonal patterns. They've formed relationships with the local big cats, lions and, rarely but not unheard of, tigers...hunting with them cooperatively.

Aridha came to the place in the campaign world where most of the action takes place in search of her father, who left when she was young. In the process of searching for him, she becomes an adventurer and bounty hunter. eventually she finds that her father has come out there to meet with the local orders of Melora who are in talks with the high priestly orders of Corellon, discussing the possibility of alliance. The followers of Corellon are proud and skeptical, but Aridha is able to convince them that Melora's people have much to offer, and a personal stake in making sure the drow do not win.

After participating in several strikes against the drow, Aridha and her father return to the plains with magic provided by the followers of Corellon...to bring the plains elves together and join the fight. They arrive just in time for the epic battle where Lolth is destroyed.

Now Aridha is unsure where she belongs...back home with her people, or here where she's done so much more. She's fought the drow tooth and nail, but now some seem to want her trust. And without the mutual threat of Lolth, how long before the alliance between Melora and Corellon dissolves? And what side will Arida choose then?

...

Seem okay so far? Just throwing rocks in the pond right now, really. Seeing where the ripples go.

okay we are getting closer, move the finished versions to the Rogues gallery.
Annalist & Charwoman Gene choices look good, fill in the numbers.

Shayuri - sounds good, but Im still not sure how you connect to the other characters, although you have laid the ground work to be called in as an independent drow expert. Don't worry about fitting into a pre-existing world, basically your backgrounds shape the world you live in.

EvolutionKB - dailies and equipment

Good suggestions Velmont I was thinking along similar lines. This campaign won't focus on increasing paranoia on the surface, outbreaks of spiders, or shadow gates (away from the primary site of instability, at least) but these events are probably happening in the background, and being handled, or fumbled by lesser heroes.

Additionally while evil seems to be cropping up spontaneously, good does not. There seem to be fewer knight protectors and the like since the death of Bahamut. The small number of metallic dragons that were widely known, seem to have been caught up in the conflict and have vanished.

Yar, tricky to tie in when I don't know much about them. :)

But I note an elven cleric...that could be a potential tie-in. Which god does Elithiel serve? Radiant Servant suggests Pelor...unusual choice for an elf, but that could be cool.

And yeah, Aridha's reputation would be from the big fight against the drow. If there was more trouble from drow, she'd be on the short list of people to consult. If you wanted said drow dead. :)

Okay, so I was thinking about my character and his military background and how all of this deicide and celestial warring has related to him. If I'm not mistaken the relations between Dragonborn and Tieflings have been tenuous at best since before Bahamut's downfall. Switching gears, Drow are usually evil, Lloth of course is, and after her downfall the tyrannical evil matriarch rule is likely to be weakened. I would assume that since the god and goddess have been slain my character has had even worse relations with Dragonborn, but probably imporved relations with Drow. Since most people are better allies with Dragonborn than Drow, and since Tieflings can be difficult to trust already anyway, I would assume that this would spiral into my character losing the trust of some of his former allies.

some comments on posts to the rogue gallery -
Annalist - your not carrying weapons? Either melee or missle? rnage 5 at-wills suck if you find a dragon.
CG - your staff has no special abilities?

are either of you carrying some of your cash in ritual components?

Nope. I'm terrible at fantasy shopping. No Special abilities.

I have not yet bought my rituals and components. I will be doing so soon.

Ran out of cash. There's nothing I can afford with what I have left that would even hit a dragon. Elithiel will just do what he does best, play support by buffing the team and keeping them healed. He's not a primary damage dealer anyway, though he is spec'd to put a serious hurt on demons and undead.

Elithiel's carrying around Residuum to fuel his rituals for now.

ziegander - as a level 20 warlord, and 18+ chr It is very likely you were in charge of your lands armed forces, in reality if not name. Dunn may have been your sub-altern, bodyguard, or 2nd in command, but he lacked the charisma to rise to the very top ranks. The prejudice or politics you mention could be responsible for driving you out of that post. You could also still be officially in charge of the furthest backwater post that could be found.

CG the staffs in PHB suck, but there are some great weapons in AV - like the defensive staff (+1 to fort/ref/will/ac) - if you can spare cash for the upgrade to lvl17.

Additionally there is a fire sale on Planar Portal rituals, and it can be picked up for 9k instead of 17k.
