If a human takes exotic weapon proficincy to let him use the full blade and then takes monkey grip can he wield a large full blade in two hands or is it simply too large? Also does the powerfull build ability stack with the feat monkey grip?

Wielding a weapon one size category than your are capable of as a two handed weapon is a 3.0 thing that I do not believe carried over into 3.5, so that does not work.

Monkey grip sucks, and it does not stack with Powerful Build.

Monkey Grip did carry over to 3.5 in CompWar, along with using an oversized 2-handed weapon:

You can use melee weapons one size category larger than you are with a -2 penalty on the attack roll, but the amount of effort it rakes you to use the weapon does not change. For instance, a Large longsword (a one-handed weapon for a Large creature) is considered a two-handed weapon for a Medium creature that does not have this feat. For a Medium creature that has this feat, it is still considered one-handed weapon. You can wield a larger light weapon as a light weapon, or a larger two-handed weapon in two hands. You cannot wield a larger weapon in your off-hand, and you cannot use this feat with a double weapon.

Emphasis mine.

FWIW, the Heavy Weapons Feat from Magic of Faerun lets you use weapons made of "alchemical" gold or platinum- their increased mass increases base damage similar to increasing weapon size...and as such, its effect stacks with Powerful Build or Monkey Grip.

But it was substantially lessoned in power (which is what was trying to be inferred).

3.0 Monkey Grip

You can use one melee weapon that is one size larger than you in one hand. . . ..

The 3.5 version has the effort required to use it not changing which means it is wielded in the same way.

Weapon "sizes" are handled very differently in 3.5 than they were in 3.0 also - the mechanics are much clearer and precise (and limiting) in 3.5.

The fullblade was never carried over into 3.5. The recommended conversion is, I believe, to treat it as a great sword designed for a Large creature. This would mean that a human (or medium creature) with Monkey grip and/or powerful build) (nb. these do NOT stack) could wield it in two hands.

I don't feel like looking it up, believe I believe that even with those character options, an attack roll penalty would be required.

A PC with Monkey Grip would have a penalty, one with Powerful Build would not.

Darnit, you made me look it up now...

Assumption: A Medium creature (eg. a human) trying to use a Large greatsword.

Monkey Grip: This would let you use a Large greatsword at a -2 attack penalty. Note that it has no benefit at all if you try using a Huge weapon (this is a common misconception).

Powerful Build: (from RoS): "A goliath can use weapons designed for a creature one size larger without penalty." This time, no penalty for using a Large weapon at all (neither in terms of hands needed nor in terms of attack penalty). Again, this ability specifically refers only to weapons of one size category larger, and has no benefit when trying to use weapons of two sizes larger.

The two abilities overlap, not stack; having both does not confer any special ability to use Huge weapons.

Just noticed that the OP was asking specifically about "Large fullblades", not the regular fullblade.

Now, a regular fullblade, converted to 3.5e, is treated as a Large greatsword. So it would logically follow that a Large fullblade (not sure if such a thing can actually exist under raw, but w/e) would logically convert to a Huge greatsword.

Incidentally, this would represent a weapon about 24 feet long. It probably counts as a reach weapon, if you could lift it.

Neither powerful build nor Monkey Grip are of any help with this weapon, as it is two sizes larger than the wielder, and they only help if it is one size larger.

Since it is now a greatsword as the base weapon, there is no EWP for it, although there is of course a MWP for it.

Now, if you had (Powerful Build or Monkey Grip) and were the subject of an enlarge person spell, you could wield that Huge greatsword.
