D&D 5E No update to Basic today?

I think someone at wizards just got confused about the Hoard of the dragon queen supplement and the basic rules update.

the supplement has so much yummy in it I am totally happy with it

The 5B may still not have you completely covered. I certainly expect it to only contain a, umm, basic list of monsters and magic items; just a portion of what's in the actual MM and DMG. Monsters you can probably wing based on some of the conversion guides popping up, and magic items you may have to take a best guess extrapolating from what we have with the 5B doc, and then ret-conn them when the DMG comes out. If they duplicate spell effects, then the PHB will probably help a lot 'til then.

Yeah, I know. It is more that I was pleasantly surprised that this small list from HotDQ covered so much for me. Giant Centipede, Crocodile, Lizardfolk, Otyugh, Potion of Gaseous Form, Potion of Greater Healing and Shatter all are pretty much directly called for. I have already been converting stuff for months. My life is just getting easier.

Yeah, I can deal with the stuff they gave me for my game tomorrow, but it's weird they said it would be out today and then went back and said it wouldn't but eh, whatever. I have NPC stuff which is what I wanted anyway.

I don't think anyone has quoted them as it being *today*. Just, "while the PHB is in early release", which is a period of more than a week.

So, no wtf, yet. Do not get angry at them for not doing what they didn't say they'd do.

They never said for sure today, they said they would try to but it looks like it will be next week.

They did put out the appendix for the Horde of the Dragon Queen, which has a lot of magic items and monster stats as well as some additional spells that I assume will be updated into the new basic rules too.

So, please don't tell me they didn't say what they clearly did. I can accept they were wrong, but they DID say it. Please don't call me a liar.

While I agree that technically an online supplement for WotDQ is not an update to the Basic rules PDF, and thus the person responsible for Wizards_DnD tweets clearly made a mistake, calling them on it is simply picking nits. What they've said is that they would be providing more monsters and magic items and that is exactly what they did. Apparently there are going to be giving us even MORE next week. Awesome!

This is not directed specifically at Evenglare (I quoted him because WotC did, indeed, declare that they were shooting for an update today), but- let's remember, it isn't even noon yet. It's a bit early to call WotC to the carpet for not issuing an update today. Let's wait until end of business day before we jump to conclusions, shall we?
