D&D 5E Gem of Your Collection

I bought a bunch of Ral Partha box sets about 15 years ago, but I never did anything with them. These are all still new/mint in the original shrink wrap.

I have been selling my physical collection to help pay bills and rent and such so there's not as much as there used to be. However...

I still have copies of my three favorite D&D boxed sets in good shape - Spelljammer: AD&D Adventures in Space, Council of Wyrms, and Wrath of the Immortals.

I also have a copy of the Wheel of Time RPG signed by Robert Jordan and, the prize of my collection - the only one of its kind in existence, anywhere. :D A print copy of Jon Brazer Enterprises' Book of Heroic Races: Seedlings signed by the author...my wife. :D

I have many 3rd/3,5 edition stuff I like as well. But this is some of my earlier edition stuff I love.

Tough one. Against the Giants and Temple of Elemental Evil adventure books (1e) would be near the top. Also the original Top Secret Box Set (there was a time in the early 80's when this was my game of choice). Several issues of Dungeon and Dragon Magazines, KotB, and many Al Quadim box sets are also favorites.

The weirdest "gem" of my collection for me is the original copyeditor proof of Palladium's POWERS UNLIMITED THREE by Kevin Siembedia with all of the various markings/comments/insertions. Being a Heroes Unlimited player and long-time copyeditor myself, I loved getting that as a surprise gift in a Palladium Christmas Gift Bag a few years back. For all my jokes about "Palladium: we skip the editing and pass the savings on to you!" when playing Rifts and trying to find anything, it's really neat to see how the sausage is made (I'm used to educational publishing, so it was great insight to flip through a game book in-progress)...

Great thread idea.

For myself, I cannot say that I have a personal favorite "gem", as I recently started collecting, but I am proud of my entire collection so far.

For 5E I have:

Player's Handbook
Monster Manual
Ghosts of Dragonspear Castle (print version)
Vault of the Dracolich (print version)
Goodman Games - Fifth Edition Fantasy #1: Glitterdoom and Fifth Edition Fantasy #2: The Fey Sisters’ Fate (third party modules)

For 1E I have:

Players Handbook
Dungeon Masters Guide
Monster Manual
Unearthed Arcana
Against the Slave Lords

All of those are the "premium reprint versions" WOTC released, not original prints. I still need to get Dungeons of Dread to complete the collection.

I also bought the WOTC White Box Premium Reprint.

That's all I have collected so far. I cannot touch the awesomeness of long time players/collectors.

I just got my 5th edition Player's Handbook and Monster Manual earlier today, so I am SUPER stoked about finally having them in my collection. :D

  • An AD&D Players Handbook in mint condition signed by Gary Gygax and Dave Sutherland. I lined up at Gen Con to shake Gary's hand and thank him for D&D, back in 1985.
  • Paul Jaquays' Dark Tower, most beloved adventure, barely holding together it's been run so often. I wrote Paul a letter of thanks back in 1989 and he wrote me back a lovely letter, that I keep tucked into it.
  • An original Jeff Easley pen & ink of Mordenkainen, published in WG5: Mordenkainen's Fantastic Adventure. Picked that up at the same con, framed it thereafter.
  • My older brother's AD&D DMG, with pages incredibly well-thumbed near the combat tables.

All that stuff is associated with the absolute sweet spot of my enthusiasm for the game, as a young teen. Losing it in something like a fire would be heartbreaking.
