D&D 5E [5e +] So what are you currently doing with 5e

Running a campaign based on an idea that Jeff Grubb (I think) presented online a while ago, where the world has been almost fully encompassed in a permanent, supernatural storm. The PCs are traveling the world, trying to hunt down the source of that storm and find a way to reverse it, because it's started to rise--for the first time in several generations--and is thus threatening the last human communities high in the mountains.

They're currently traveling on the back of a cooperative, 500-ft. wind ghost*, with a makeshift village of other experts and specialists.

I don't really feel like I'm quite getting the full 5E experience, though. This campaign started in Pathfinder and we switched over, so I haven't seen 5E at low levels, and the characters are powerhouses. (Their stats are much higher than assumed 5E defaults.)

I'm thinking my next campaign is going to be a very traditional, "tame the borderlands beyond civilization and carve out a domain which will be given the PCs to manage" sort of campaign. Just because it's been so long since I've done anything like that.

I'm running (as DM) Hoard of the Dragon Queen via Roll20 (my table of choice these days) and enjoying it very much. We are only at the Dragon Hatchery, so time will tell. My players like "Action", so I plan to reskin as we go so that they are kept on their toes. I'm also prepping a "Neverwinter" campaign - but I plan to use Neverwinter only as a backdrop for PCs to portal jump from one "classic module" to another (whilst working in Neverwinter politics and home-grown threats). And yes, I'm doing waay too much DMing. I'd love to play at some stage (but none of my players want to DM, unfortunately).

Also greatly lamenting the fact that I don't have any opportunity to play 5E. I like DMing, but I want both. :(

There are plenty of games online using virtual tabletops Roll20 is my favorite here https://app.roll20.net

it is in my opinion the best free VTT, but there are others.

It is not the exact same feel as face to face play but you can meet a good group of people and get to know them, I stay in contact with my group using skype throughout the week and we have become good friends.

Well, I finally got the chance to try out some of the things I've been homebrewing, and now I'm refining them and inventing/building off of new features to add to the game. The biggest thing I did was try out my psion class (built as an INT-based sorcerous origin with invisible spells), which worked exactly as I wanted!

I also did extensive work on an alchemy-based crafting system that allows a character to craft any potion or alchemical item (a disappointingly short list which I filled out with a bunch of alchemical items of my own design) by combining powerful alchemical essences extracted from special plants, fungi, and animals. The essences come in seven kinds (the Four Elements plus the Three Essentials from classical lore) and several degrees of rarity, and the skill check made to complete the concoction varies in difficulty based on the quality of the ingredients (all loosely based off the very good project being worked on in this thread).

I created 20+ permanent magical items of the Common rarity, using Gothnog's Magnificent Cantrips for ideas.

A sentence about pricing consumable magic items that I'd been overlooking for the past month gave me the last bit of insight needed to complete a big table that allows you to more precisely determine the base price of a magic item, custom or otherwise, using the level of the spell it replicates as a starting point. It's been incredibly helpful; I should share it at some point.

Playing HOTDQ while putting the finishing touches on an campaign setting featuring an elaborate urban setting with a very diverse population - humans, humanoids, demi-humans, even an undead neighborhood where it is always night.
