D&D 5E MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

That works! I wish it was more clear because I literally did not see that.

The only problem is that it doesn't add the claw attack and the Attacks per Action (at least for the tressym, did not check any others).
Oh well, everybody overlooks something sometime :) It is right in the same list as the other things that you did find, but I can't make it any bigger than the other options, unfortunately. It is also described in the mouseover/tooltip of the button.

As for the attacks not showing up, good! Because familiars don't get attacks according to the Find Familiar spell description.

I'm using your sheet for the first time, and here's some problems that I've noticed with version 12.5:
* Call Lightning is missing from the Sorcerer spell list, even though Elemental Evil is enabled.
* When I created a new 12th Level Storm Sorcerer, I got the popup with a reference to "NaN" (Not a Number): "The change in level has granted your character NaN additional Ability Score improvements."
* Set race to one of the new Aasimar races. The light cantrip is now known, but does not show up on the spell sheet, even though I rebuilt it. I think that it should.
* I did "Flatten" to see what it would do, but now I don't see how I would UN-Flatten.

Hi Taed, thank you for taking the time to report any issues. Let me go through them one by one:

  1. Call Lightning is not a Sorcerer spell nor is it taken from the Elemental Evil Player's Compendium. It is a Druid only spell in the PHB.
  2. This is rather strange. Can you tell me exactly what you type where, and in what order you do it, when you create your level 12 Storm Sorcerer. (i.e. do you type "Storm Sorcerer 12" into the class field, or first "Sorcerer" and then "12" in the level field?)
  3. Good catch, this is indeed a bug. I will fix it in the next version!
  4. The "Flatten" button is a toggle. If you press it again, it un-flattens. The same goes for the "Mods" button (or "Modifiers" bookmark).

1. Oh, poop! That's my character's favorite spell! I think it's my mistake from when Storm Sorcerer was in Unearthed Arcana!
2. I believe that I first did the level 12, then Sorcerer, then it had me choose Storm, and then spells, and then the error.
4. Ah, I see -- Flatten also turns off Mods, but does not turn Mods back on when I press Flatten a second time. That was non-intuitive. Could the colored toggle buttons un-color themselves or something when they are disabled?

Also, for languages, it just shows the text "+2 for Adept" (for example). Is the intent to just delete that text and add the other languages by manually typing, or am I missing some clever macro / pulldown thing?

I've been using ForgedAnvil's Excel character generator (which I do like), and I'm not sure yet if I'll make the switch to yours yet. Having the Volo's races in it is what is tempting me.

Yes, you're meant to delete that text and add the languages manually. It's there as a reminder of how many you can pick, and why. Similarly, you can hover over a section of the Skill Proficiencies box and a pop-up will tell you things like "Perception - from Wood Elf" "Any 2 of V,WX,Y,Z from $background" etc.

I haven't used ForgedAnvil's generator, but after I introduced MPMB's sheet to my Saturday group they're all using it now. It makes rolling up a new character SO much faster, and MPMB is awesome about responding to feedback, fixing bugs, etc.

2. With your workflow of how you added the sorcerer I found the error in my code, which only happens when you directly go from level "blank" to a high enough level that warrants ASI. I will have this fixed in the next version, thank you for reporting it!

4. The buttons in the 'JavaScript Window' do actually show that they are pressed while active. However, while this was very visible in Adobe Acrobat XI, but a lot less clear in DC. At least that is my experience on Windows, I don't know how it looks on Mac. The buttons also appear in the bookmarks, but only if you are using Adobe Acrobat Pro can de code change the bookmarks, so I didn't make a feature for the bookmarks to show which one is active.

The languages thing is already explained by @pdegan2814. There is no fancy hidden macro/pulldown, just you writing in the languages you want. The "+2 from adept" is there just as a reminder what the background gives you. Languages and tools are intentionally not drop-down boxes because I want these things to not feel constrained. And yes, I could make them drop-down boxes that you can still write anything you want into (as most of the drop-down boxes on this sheet), but I understand that most people don't look any further when they can use a drop-down box and especially tools is something that you should be very creative with!

I hardly know of anybody who switches between ForgedAnvil an my generator. From what I understand, the general consensus from people who like ForgedAnvil's generator is that it is more user friendly/intuitive. I hope you understand it is much easier to make something more intuitive when you have separate pages to fill stuff out than where you display the end results. I am very interested to hear your opinion on what can be improved.

Also, don't forget that besides the Volo races, my sheet comes with the option to add in any Unearthed Arcana material. See the "Fan-made Additions"-Dropbox folder for this. (The "Get Additional Content" bookmark links to this Dropbox folder as well.)

Can someone clarify something for me? v12.5 has the Volo races(some of which look pretty intriguing), and it lists the stat bumps for Tabaxi as +2Con, +1Cha, however I'm seeing elsewhere that the stat bumps for Tabaxi are actually +2Dex, +1Cha. My copy of the book doesn't arrive until next week, which is correct? I'm curious as to whether Tabaxi are going to be Warlocks/Sorcerers, or Swashbucklers/Bards :)

You are absolutely right. This has brought to my attention on reddit already and is fixed in the new version (it should be +2Dec, +1Cha).

Changelog for MPMB's Character Record Sheet v12.55 (11 November 2016):

  • Added the option for Custom Class/Subclass Scripts to use their own spell slot tables and adding partial levels to the Warlock spell slot calculation when multiclassing. This opens the door for adding Matthew Mercer’s Blood Hunter class (now available in the Fan-made Additions Dropbox);
  • Added a way for a class feature with options to be selected through another class feature (such as the Draconic Bloodline sorcerer’s ancestry), so that it is no longer needed to select the traits separately;
  • Added a way for ‘choices’ and ‘extrachoices’ of class features to add/remove Limited Features. This opens the door for adding the new Unearthed Arcana Barbarian paths (now available in the Fan-made Additions Dropbox);
  • Added the bonus action listing for the Orc’s "Aggressive" trait;
  • Made it possible for the automation to detect things that have manually been moved from the third page “Notes” section to the second page “Class Features” section;
  • Fixed some issues with the changes to the class feature sorting code introduced in v12.5;
  • Fixed the saving throw for Cone of Cold to be Constitution instead of Dexterity (thanks splepage for reporting);
  • Fixed the Warlock’s Armor of Shadows and Chains of Carceri Invocations to be at will instead of once per long rest (thanks splepage for reporting);
  • Fixed the Tabaxi, Triton, and Deurgar ability score listing in the Racial Traits section (thanks liquidlen for reporting);
  • Fixed the new Aasimar getting their light cantrip (thanks Taed for reporting);
  • Fixed some issues with the Ability Score Improvements reminder (thanks Lamenting_Demon & Taed for reporting).
