D&D 5E Next up is Fighter, what do you want from UA?

I'd like to see a Fighter archetype that focuses on two-weapon fighting, but still has some of the flexibility of maneuvers.

Level 3: The bonus action attack from two-weapon fighting increased to 2[W]:
So once a turn, your bonus action attack with a scimitar would be 2d6, or 2d8 with a longsword.

Level 3: Trip Attack and Riposte as abilities you can do 3 times each, no superiority damage. Recharge on short rest.

Level 7: Uncanny Dodge.

Level 10: Movement speed increased by 5 feet, and Trip attack and Riposte deal +1d8 damage.

etc..

Those are two extremes of the concept, sure, one a full caster with limited martial skill (Lore Bard would be the all-in-caster extreme), the other not a caster at all. A 1/3rd Bard 'Skald' Archetype would be closer to the martial side, but still able to do some magical bard stuff, so distinct from both. 5e seems to go in for that kind of thing, giving us both the EK and Bladesinger, for just two of many instances, in spite of also having Soldier & Sage Backgrounds, Martial Adept & Magical Adept feats, and optional Multi-classing - and some folks still want a Swordmage or other dedicated 'gish class.'

Kind of this^.

Valor bard I find a bit wanting, and a fighter with an entertainer background I view the same. I don't think I need a separate class but a fighter sub-class that hits on bard territory like the EK on wizard would be what I am after.

Are valor bards and college of sword bards (and multi-classing) able to achieve what I am after? Yes, probably... but I am still left with a feeling of "Ooo so close!".

I have seen (and really like) the assessment that the gish subclasses of caster classes are 3/4 caster, 1/4 melee, and it seems like there is a good deal of design space for 3/4 melee, 1/4 caster for melee classes, whether for one that draws on the bard or the cleric. They don't seem interested in doing that with the barbarian (although they are clearly willing to give rage powers based on the divine), so fighter and rogue (and maybe monk) seem to be where (if anyplace) they will be built. It doesn't necessarily mean that they will do so in the upcoming UA/big book of crunch, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do.

Wait? You mean with "Inspiration die"? That'd be awesome!

Fighter with the Entertainer background? ;)

Well I mentioned that upthread as well. Seemed to fall short. The fluff is there, but it needs more mechanical backing I feel. Multi-class seems to get me the closest to what I am seeking, and for now, that is just fine. But the thread is a 'What do we want" and I would love a Skald. A fighter sub-class that intertwines fighter and bard better than Valor Bard ever could.

Thinking about it, I suppose a EK fighter with entertainer may work also... Not sure since there is a restriction on spell schools right?

Potentially resolved easily enough with, "DM, can we work out something different with the EK schools to represent the skald idea I want to play?"
