D&D 5E What would be a fun 2 pc group?

An Ancients Paladin (with Mounted Combat) and a Moon Druid (with Sentinel). One gets to be Don Quixote, the other gets to be Mister Ed. Hilarity ensues.

I am currently using the escort the stubborn princess to her far away kingdom in a different campaign as we speak lol

She's a 22 Charisma Half-Elf teenage Bard if you were wondering hahaha! She had a pet cat they may be her pet, may be her familiar, or may be her high level Druid Grandmother looking after her.... who knows lol

I'm leaning towards Ranger + Bard right now. I think my brother in law still wants to go Pally and Cleric. I'd just have to amp up the difficulty, but it'd be fine. I still think despite being Goliaths, it'd be best to have two Dex characters. Won't dump Str or anything just focus more on Dex.

I would strongly consider a moon druid for the wisdom/dex character. It covers so many bases. It fights well. It has nice utility and healing abilities. It can boost stealth. Decent AOE capabilities

I also think monks work really well if the Druid one isn't your style.

I find Trickster clerics to be pretty cool 2 player characters. Their ability to give somebody advantage on stealth is really handy, as are some of their spells. A dex+wis guy with a criminal background can be a passable thief, a good healer, OK enough in combat not to be a hindrance and make sure that his companion is good at sneaking too.

If you are going Goliath, then a Coyote, Racoon or maybe Crow shaman would seem appropriate.

I do like the idea of a big Goliath Monk and a Goliath Swashbuckler team

or Monk and high Charisma Barbarian for a totally unarmored pair. Of course that's a really MAD Character.... maybe stick a 12 there and take a background that gives me prof in some social skills.

Would Trickery Cleric + Arcane Trickster be too much tricky? This sounds extra interesting considering we'd be a couple of huge goofy Goliaths lol

I was considering Ancients Pally + Knowledge Cleric if we did end up Pally + Cleric

Note: I have never seen or played a Trickery or Knowledge Cleric, Swashbuckler or AT Rogue, or Ancients Pally yet in 5e.

A while back my gf and I joined a group as a pair of two dwarven cousins who had been adventuring together for a while - a barbarian and an alchemist :D

It may sound silly but:

- The alchemist can heal, blast, buff and do some lore stuff. It can also act as a pseudo-rogue, depending on build.
- The barbarian tanks and can do the nature/survival things.

Together, they fight crime :P

I'm running a 1 player campaign for my 8-year old daughter. She's a wood elf moon druid and her NPC friend is a halfling champion fighter (DEX based with a short sword and a whip). They are a pretty good combo.

Human Vengeance Paladin Entertainer (Polearm Fighter) and Tabaxi Celestial Pact of the Tome Warlock Criminal. The paladin caught and reformed 'Bad Kitty'. They cover all the bases (range, melee, healing, social) and should be fun to play together - perhaps themed on the Cheshire Cat and the Mad Hatter?

Ok I have some updates. We're still sticking with Goliaths. Probably will skip the random feat this time. We have decided that both of us will start Barbarian 1 and than multiclass into a different class and stick with it until the end. We are doing this mainly for unarmored defense and the limited rage. We still want one high Char character and one high Wis character.

Quick note on rage changes.

1. we can rage only once per day without suffering a level of exhaustion
2. rage activates on reaction only.
3. rage lasts until knocked unconscious or until 1 minute of inactivity
4. rage grants +4 to Str for the duration(can be higher than 20 with this)
5. regen Con mod hp at the beginning of each turn while raging up to 50% of total
6. all other aspects will remain the same

We do this to make rage more rare but also more devastating. We will treat it as a last resort kind of tactic. We will not trigger it easily. It'll take something like getting hit by a crit, or one of us dropping to 0hp or public humiliation or something.

Rage can and will be a negative thing as any of the main classes we choose will be at least partial spellcasters, and entering a rage will obviously end that probably for the remainder of that encounter.

Warlock and Cleric.
Something me and my brother tried before, and found it quite fun.
I really like the rage idea as well. Gives the whole world a fun twist.
