Yeah much easier to balance extra/safer movement and some bonus damage.Or you could charge X Ki per ally and up the total number of allies possibly affected at level intervals...
@Garthanos - or just damage and no extra attack. Less synergy shenanigans that way. The bonus damage is even no matter who uses it though, whereas an extra attack varies widely in its impact. Something to consider anyway.
Speaking of a martial fireball...its sort of the Warlords fireball to be honest ... the everybody charge.
you might be right that is in some sense more like a fireball in that it has an area of effect a charge my target is a more focus fire effect.Speaking of a martial fireball...
What about making every ally in your presence who is wielding a weapon deal gambit die + some stat damage to every enemy adjacent to them, as your action?
one of the dailies allows 2 allies either safer movement or a charge attack or just an additional attack so that even if nobody is set up to charge there is a benefit and its valuable to the trapped wizard too.Yeah much easier to balance extra/safer movement and some bonus damage.
This was called orchestrated offensive. Many of the Warlords powers were written to work not just with other martial types (though no not all). Many of the casters had at-wills that could function as a basic attack so that is more useful than a charge. Maybe not as directly identifiable as the charge but still more D&D party valuable in several waysone of the dailies allows 2 allies either safer movement or a charge attack or just an additional attack so that even if nobody is set up to charge there is a benefit and its valuable to the trapped wizard too.
Wind of Blades, 4e Druid 7 power, let you do something like that to one target, once per fight. The intended use was one enemy soldier in a crowd would whack all his friends. (In Dark Sun, you put it on your party's multi-attacker and send him to charge a mob of foes.)Speaking of a martial fireball...
