Palpatine Was A Clone in RoS

Sigh. It really is time to just shelve the whole Palpatine-Skywalker-Kenobi storyline and focus on other sectors of the galaxy (e.g. the Mandalorian, which I still haven't seen but am saving for a rainy coronavirus day of binge-watching).

The original trilogy is truly classic sf/fantasy cinema. Everything else is varying shades of bad-to-mediocre fanfic and/or toy advertisement and/or diminishment of vision and imagination. I enjoy all of the other films to varying degrees, but the overall impact on the original trilogy is a tarnishing, unfortunately, so I try to partition it within my personal cinematic mythology.

Makes sense though. Not a fan of bringing back Palps, it wasn't a great idea I. dark Empire.

But you have the choice of ineffective villain with Kylo or bring back Palps (or Vader). Or the Snoke that died was a clone.

It makes sense but they should have built up to it since TFA.

Actually no...makes no sense. Should have been explained via Movie, a 10 minute scene at best. But NOPE...via a novel. At what price, 24+ dollars...Nah.

^I actually agree with this and go one step forward. Zardnaar, bless his heart, loves the Expanded Universe, so sees books as canon. They're not. The films are canon for 95% of Star Wars fans, because 95% of Stars Wars fans--from casual to serious--don't read the books.

There's really no reason to think that Palpatine is a clone in the films, especially considering the condition of his body, which implies that it is his original body barely kept alive. If he was truly a clone, why not just make a new clone as needed?

This is just another fanfic idea that muddies the waters further. I am reminded of reading the X-Men back in the 80s and 90s and how they kept on adding bits and pieces to Wolverine's backstory. At some point it became clear that even the writers at Marvel didn't really know his backstory, but were just drawing it out, playing with ideas. Nothing wrong with that, but the net result was--at least for a time--a convoluted mess.

At some point I suspect we'll see a story in which Luke wakes up on Tatooine as a 20-year old, and the whole thing was a dream. Or worse, it is Little Ani who wakes up. Then they can reset the whole (damn) thing.

So this makes Palpaltine immortal.

And since it is also based on Legends, even if there are no clone bodies, Palpaltine can take over another's... like what he wanted to do with Rey/Kelyo.

Be it an infant strong in the force (Dark Empire/Thrawn trilogy).

What would happen if this skill/power could be given to other Sith?

Could Lord Momin then also return?

As death to non-force users is now a motte point.
Oh naughty word - The Mandelorian - baby Yoda!

The hinting of that has been around since last year or more...

Yeah should have been in the movie. U was talking about in universe.

Even ignoring Dark Empire Sith Spiritsvare a thing, possession is a thing along with clones.

Put the 3 together and in universe it's fine. Whether or not they should have recycled this idea well.....

The new books and comics are canon. So this explaination is canon.

I use the Star Wars wiki now instead of buying the books and comics. Spend 22 years buying SW material can't be bothered doing it all over again since they rebooted it.

So basically, reviving Palpatine makes zero sense and they couldn't be bothered to justify it in the movie, so when the author of the novelisation had to come up with an explanation, they just recycled the one that was used last time the Emperor was revived.

Good for them - they certainly shouldn't be expected to have to do the job of cleaning up Disney's mess.

They had a choice of ineffective villain with Kylo Ren or bring back Palps. Or retcon Smokes death I suppose. Me

But Kylo would have to be written differently. No light side temptation or unable to kill Leia when he was fine killing Han.
