According to ComicBookMovie, his character name is Forge Fletcher, and the cast will be joined by I Am Not OK With This actor Sophia Lillis playing a character called Doric.

In recent years, Hugh Grant has played villains in Paddington 2, and The Undoing.

In the US. He had already been acting on TV in the UK for over 10 years before Fellowship came out. And ironically, a part made his career where you did not even see him, since it was all motion capture work and his voice.

People in their home country care. Which is the point: "A list" depends entirely on what country you are in.

Not from the standpoint of getting a movie approved by a studio, it isn't.

It's also irrelevant. Good actor (or Medicare actor but right for the part - looking at no Orlando Bloom in particular) is what matters.

Being good works for the critics and reasonably sophisticated fans but it may not be enough to make the money the studios want. Some of the best actors, from a quality and experience perspective, aren't enough to get butts in the seats.

People didn't turn out in droves to see Iron Man because RDJ was famous (he wasn't then) they turned out because he was good.

RDJ wasn't famous before 2008?!? He was famous and notorious. Yes, he's a great actor (well known since Chaplin in 1992 when he got a Best Actor nomination at the Oscars) but he was also cast because he was well known and could easily fit the part given his well-known history with excess. Not famous... the very idea!

Anyone that denies that Christopher Lee isn't an epic and badass well-known actor with a lot of cred in his prior work is just being ignorant. That said, he wasn't a Hollywood A-Lister, which, I believe, is what the original poster was intending to note.
