WotC Strixhaven sounds like it'd be a nice mini-setting for D&D

Just to stir the pot, Mark Rosewater gave some creature teases for what's in the Strixhaven Set, and anthropomorphic animals seem to be a theme:

• Creature – Turtle Druid

• Creature – Bird Warlock

• Creature – Frog Wizard

• Creature – Spirit Dwarf

• Creature – Troll Druid

• Creature – Eye Bat

• Legendary Creature – Vampire Warlock

• Legendary Creature – Orc Shaman

• Legendary Creature – Dryad Druid

• Legendary Artifact Creature – Construct
So, they could pull a Wildemount and include Tortles, Owlkin, Grung (although they're poisonous, so maybe Bullywugs or a new Frogkin race), a spirit race (or leave them as NPCs), Dhampirs and the revised Orc race.

A new setting book stuffed with anthropomorphic animals would be a big seller based on those alone.

It would also be as distinct a value proposition from Ravenloft as Wildemount was from Eberron, or Theros from Wildemount, if not moreso.

Anthropomorphic animal representing is historically pretty weak in D&D, compared with Young Adult fantasy literature.

Their poison is pretty mild. It's not like they're a Satyr or Yuan-Ti (the only two races that I feel are too powerful).

After Tier 1 that DC 12 is nothing.

I don't really see grung as being typical wizard material, is there an illustration for this card? Candlekeep Mysteries revives Grippli. Their main gimmick is a shooting tongue attack which I can see PCs having fun with.

A grung would fit into Witherbloom quite well.

Witherbloom's descrip

Witherblooms are goth bio majors. They draw power from the essence of living beings, whether that means enhancing nature or exploiting it. Witherbloom mages are most at home riding zombie crocs, picking herbs for potions, and hanging out in their swamp making grim jokes.

And yes, I would love to be a grung riding a zombie crock picking up rare herbs and roots to amplify poisons.
