Fizban the Fabulous is, of course, the accident-prone, befuddled alter-ego of Dragonlance’s god of good dragons, Paladine, the platinum dragon (Dragonlance’s version of Bahamut).

Which makes my guess earlier this year spot on!

UPDATE -- the book now has a description!

Hmm. Interesting concept. How are they different mechanically?
To give a more in depth answer, the basic thing is that in place of a breath weapon, catastrophic dragons have an aura that escalates each round, becoming more extreme and more dangerous. They might get much bigger (the aura), do more damage, etc. I believe there's a three-round escalation pattern- so think of it as aura level 1 on round 1, level 2 on rd 2, level 3 on rd 3, then down to level 1 again, and so on.

Well, based on waht was in Volo's & Mordenkeinen's, Fizban's Treasury can reconcile different Setting versions in the text or a sidebar.
Add in some mephit death bursts and the mechanics feel more similar (to my haven't reviewed DragonLance in 30ish years memory)

There are many, many retailers who would love to help you find other ways to spend your D&D dollars that will fit your needs better.

Witchlight will only be my second WotC adventure book. Not every book has to be for everyone -- I'd argue that WotC embracing that actually makes for better, more interesting products.
You know, this is a good point that is easy to forget, as I often have!

Half the book is likely to be monsters as well

What new and reprinted monsters do you think will be included
The skum and aquatic monsters from SALTMARSH, the new devils and new cold monsters are probably there
What else?
