D&D 5E New D&D WotC survey! On classes.

I took the time to do this survey, but I dislike it. It tries to evaluate everything independently, but it's often in particular contexts that things are good or bad. I tried to make these clear in my comments, but assuming my numbers won't just be aggregated into their distribution charts and my comments read separately is a fool's thought.

Good point. It is the whole, not each piece, that makes up a class / subclass.......

It's not so much that they suck, but that they are annoying and conceptually silly, to certain folks. I mean, really, a troubador casting wish? Come on! ;)

Edit: Added the clearly-necessary smiley.
This, despite the smiley. :)

The bard concept has bugged me since 1e and has only gotten worse over time. I mean, singing insults to cause damage and/or make creatures attack poorly? 5e has my least favorite version of a class I've never liked. :(

I will absolutely admit that they're an effective class, though. I've had two in my campaigns so far.

I do like they get into the weeds ability by ability - it gives them the chance to address abilities that just aren’t working for the class (cough*Know Enemy*cough) and replace or rethink those that score consistantly poorly. The “overall” lets them evaluate if the class/subclass is working/liked or if it needs major retooling overall, and if it needs retooling, what the detail lets them hone in on what might be the problematic mechanic.

Huh. I'd like for them to give us an actual spellcasting paladin. To date I don't think I've seen a paladin cast a spell. All the slots go to smiting. ;)
I casted Find Steed once to get my Allosaurus - does that count? ;)

On the survey, I did mention they should seperate smite into its own pool, like Lay on Hands. Also, the fact there are smite spells doesn’t make things more confusing at all - smite spells should probably be handled like Warlock invocations that modify Eldritch Blast, but affect smiting attacks instead.

Well everyone has different tastes, and yours is as valid as mine, I just don't understand why so many people put that much weight on Vicious Mockery. I think that it's just a mediocre cantrip, and it is so minimal in the bards arsenal....

Because people use it. Why? Because fun. People seem to love the idea of insulting something to death. :(
