While reprinted, these races have all been updated to the current standard used by WotC for D&D races used in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, including a free choice of ability score increases (increase one by 2 points and another by 1 point; or increase three by 1 point), and small races not suffering a movement speed penalty.

The video below from Nerd Immersion delves into the races in more detail.

Sure we can continue playing the editions we enjoy.

What's damaging is we lack continued support.

I would kill to see WotC publish 3.5 books again. A Complete Incarnum book. An Expanded Psionics book 2. A Forgotten Realms regional book on The Lands of Intrigue. A Fiendish Codex III: Yugoloths book. A Monster Manual 6. I can go on about what I'd like to see the designers create and gladly pay for it, unlike now where I haven't purchased anything D&D since they ended 3.5e

That's what's upsetting. That's what's wrong. That's why most of us what people dub "grognards" are angry about.

We want more of the old stuff.

Heck, why the hell isn't WotC opening up their DMsGuild to older editions? I would love to purchase creator content on DMs Guild that was published more 2e or 3e. The fact they limit it to edition neutral or 5e only is garbage. Heck I'd like to collab and write up a 3.5 Psionics book on the DMs Guild maybe.
What makes you so special? Why do you deserve support? And why is making up your own stuff for your own game so gosh-darn difficult that you are desperate for Wizards of the Coast to do it for you?

Sorry, but I feel ZERO sympathy for you because you wish to play an old game and thus are expected to make the game your own. And do your own work. It is entirely your choice and no one else need feel bad for you for your choice. And it is no one else's responsibility to assist you in your choice. You want to play an old game... play the old game as you have it. Or if you need more stuff, make it up for yourself. But the rest of us aren't to feel bad for you just because you don't want to.

It doesn't bother me that this book is being bundled in a gift set.
okay but some it does

It doesn't bother me that player races will have different abilities than monster statblocks.
okay but some it does
It doesn't bother me that races are changing in this new book from what appeared in the PHB 7 years ago.
okay but some it does
It doesn't bother me that I have not yet heard of a release date of this book on its own.
It doesn't bother me that D&D Beyond will need to go through some adjustments, nor what those adjustments will be.
It doesn't bother me if these are enough changes to be considered a .5 edition, or a stealth 6th edition.
okay but some it does

before I contiue, what bothers me is so middle of the road... enough changes it is ALMOST a 6e, without fixxing ingrained problems I want fixed...
Why is this the case? Because I understand that I am not special. My wants and needs are not universal. And I am not so self-involved that I'm left feeling "abandoned" by WotC or the game because things are changing away from what I've gotten used to.
yes you are not the only person... but if we put you in a group of 100, and you find 17 others like you and 22 kinda similar and the last 60 nothing like you... and those 60 are who things get given to while some scraps are thrown to the other 22... you and the 17 like you can feel that you are not wanted here.

it can make sense (60 is way more then 18, and some of the 22 will fall in with the 60) but it doesn't make it hurt less.
There is no reason why I have to change with these changes. I don't have to change at all. I can play the game the way I did last year, five years ago, at the start of the edition if I so choose.
and like every edition you will find it slowly at first but faster as time goes on harder to find a game... 3.5 was the outlier becuse of retroclones.
The same way I didn't have to change from 4E to 5E at the time if I didn't want to.
my group didn't right away... and we debate going back to 4e all the time. we just don't becuse we don't want to split the group
Same way I didn't need to move from 4E to Essentials if I didn't want to. Or 3E to 3.5E when that was released if I didn't want to. This Dungeons & Dragons game is not so precious that I need it to remain exactly how I want it, nor do I need to attribute any amount of self-worth to MY version above all others and thus get all bent out of shape when it wants to move away from that.

It doesn't bother me. It never has. Didn't then and doesn't now.
okay... but your mindset isn't universal (said so yourself) so why do you expect this to be true of everyone?

Okay, you have me hooked.

I've never seen someone ask for more Incarnum. Or remember Incarnum.

I personally liked the soul magic idea, but found the entire implementation goofy as all get-out.

What do you miss about it. What type of expansions are you looking for?
I want a class (it doesn't have to be called incarnum) that has a mana like system where you can either spend mana that comes back on long rests or invest it (like incarnum) in buffs but also has cantrips (maybe even have things that you can invest the mana in to up the cantrips like warlocks can get invocations to up eldritch blast) when you spend the mana (remember only back on long rest) it does spell effects, you can rearrange when it is invested in minutes (like a 4e short rest) but if it is spent it is spent for day...

Very cool and not likely to be allowed in 'simple' 5e.

This is what I wanted the artificer to be, honestly.
