D&D 5E Paizo's 'The Abomination Vaults' Pathinder AP Coming to 5E

Paizo is set to release one of its adventure paths--The Abomination Vaults--for D&D 5E in November. The AP will be compiled as a hardcover and retail for $59.99. There will also be a Pathfinder 2E version of the hardcover.

The 3-part adventure path was originally released for Pathfinder 2E in early 2021, and is a big dungeon crawl adventure.

Jade Regent, Mummy's Mask, Savage Tide, and even Reign of Winter

If they sold a hardbound book of the Age of Worms converted to 5E, I'd snag it in a heartbeat.

I'd buy an Age of Worms 5e instantly.
I would want a Reign of Winters 5E and a Wrath of the Righteous 5E: I'd be happy with those. Kingmaker "5E/Beastiary" is coming (eventually) and Abomination Vaults decided to become a 5E Mega Dungeon. Only thing I'd want after that would be Extinction Curse 5E. Although, I keep on hearing a hella tonna good things about Strength of Thousands.

Wrath of the Righteous 5E could be a bat hits crazy excuse for Paizo to make their own version of "Epic Level 5E" with their Mythic Paths. Reign of Winter could capitalize on the whole Feywild crap because it's involving Baba Yaga, the Hag of all hags and I love how it takes a very "unusual" turn in it during Part 5, IIRC.

I’m a recent convert. Trying desperately to get away from 5E. PF2 tickles my brain the way D&D used to long ago. So I’m worried slightly if this is a sign Paizo plans to shift toward 5E totally…
I understand the concern, but I have my doubts. If anything, they could use extra income from the 5e side to keep pushing out PF2 material. I think they really want to have their own system.

This is a very smart move by Paizo. First of all, they tap the 5e content market with a product that should at the very minimum return the investment, which after all, is only the conversion, printing, and marketing costs. The development of the product (content) itself is already done and has been a proven seller for Paizo. That is why they are also printing a hardcover of it for 2e as well.

There is more than that though. In my area and from what others have told me in their areas, we see a good number of 5e players moving over to 2e. They like 2e's rules and character development. This could also be a way to showcase Paizo content to that 5e market and get more of them to take a look at 2e which could then translate into additional sales of 2e product. Nothing wrong with that at all.

On top of all of that is the move by WotC to a new edition of D&D (5.5 or 6?) in a flat-out cash grab based on the 50th anniversary of the game in 2024. Will that be successful? Is it necessary? Could it result in some 5e players taking a look at other systems instead? All these questions and more will be answered soon enough!

I partially agree, 5.5 could cause a market split but it’s not a money grab. The books are getting long in the tooth and are due a revision. By the time it comes out it will be ten years, only 1 year less than 1e got and the same amount of time as 2e. So 5e will become the longest lived non Basic version of the game easily in a handful of years. The revision seems to be simplifications and options rather than hard coded changes like 3.5 to 4e or 4e to 5e.
