D&D 5E Spells you house rule?

Id ask the player how their cleric knew the dude looking down the alley was about to make a success/ fail skill check (in game).

They wouldnt.

It's only used for obvious clutch skill checks where it can be explained (the Rogue needs to disarm a trap just found, or a Strength check to move a boulder etc.
yeah it is pretty simple to understand "My good can make you see better with a minor prayer"

Heat metal doesn’t impose disadvantage if the target succeeds on the saving throw.
I do this as well. Actually I've considered nerfing the "heat metal on armor to give them perma-disadvantage". First, armor is not one solid piece, it's many pieces. Second, people wear padding under metal armor. Third, it's simply too good. It's already most likely ongoing damage for the rest of combat, I frequently have human(oid) enemies that wear metal armor and it's simply too powerful.

we have found a MAD way to just not cast this. Once a PC uses it once or twice we have an NPC do it to an armored PC 1 time... all of a sudden that spell comes out of rotation.

See invisibility and the related spells also remove the advantage/disadvantage effect from invisibility.

Will likely be modifying heat metal to not get the entire suit of armor and it will need to figure out what it does to metal creatures.

Greater restoration can also choose a lesser restoration effect.

Yeah, I have detante with my current group as well which is why I haven't changed it.

Same, now that I think of it for counterspell. I was in a group that had multiple people that could counterspell, it was just annoying and boring. I like the concept of a wizard duel, but not the implementation.

yup counterspell is another one of the (toomany) spells that we just don't prep... I actually trained out of it as my warlock becuse of issues it caused (and the potential more it could)

No Ressurection, Heal restores HP but doesnt stop bleeding (Medical kit still required), all spells that replace skills (knock, jump, mending) = guidance on ability check

Question for those who changed Leomunds Tiny Hut to simply keeping out the elements:

What advantage does the spell offer over simply using a tent?
Would Leomund's Tiny Hut be better if it required some amount of damage to destroy, that maybe scales up by level?

(Having racoons get in and get your stuff, for example, seems sad. Why would it stop hale and rain but not arrows and acid?).
