Liminal Heritages:
People who exist in the threshhold between Society and Savagery, Life and Death, and Reality and Unreality...

Could be fun.

This sounds more cultural in nature than a heritage. Hmm...A5e has Mixed Heritage, what about Mixed Culture? What I mean is, what if your parents were of the same heritage (ex. Elves), but came from different cultures? You could have an Elven father who was raised in High Elf Culture, but your mom was a Cosmopolitan Elf. As a result, you learned a bit of each of their respective cultures. ;)

Ostensibly, yes, @Corinnguard. But what I was going for was:

Jekyll and Hyde like character who has to deal with having an Erudite and Animal side which each assert themselves at different times and force the heritage to be trapped between the two.

Undead-Touched. Either straddling life and death, themselves, or bound in some way between worlds to see into the Ethereal and act as a natural Medium.

Planar Entity. While they exist on our plane they do so while fighting against the pull of the plane they belong on... I was thinking a race of quasi-material entities that have to use fabric or armor to give themselves structure as they work to avoid being drawn into the Gyre.

I would honestly just have that reflected in skills. A Narrator should be willing to swap out a skill or a spell (if both cultures grant spells) of the same level to reflect the heritage. Personally, I'd require that you to put some thought into a background so it's not just minmaxing, though.
