Where do we stand on Harry Potter?

I honestly wonder how many Americans even know what the Protocols of the Elders of Zion is. Most people who know what it is are likely to be Anti-Semites or scholars.
Looking at that data, quite a number apparently. As I said, less "historical" than one might hope. That's a very active vein of hatred in our society, which is why it's concerning to see the Potter franchise center it ao prominently.

Polls such as this are dubious and the article is trash as all it does is to try malign a portion of the population and sow deeper divisions.
QAnons may have heard or seen an excerpt or listened to a podcast of the PotEZ but have likely not read it. And as to what percentage - is anybody guess.

Also we are drifting far from topic currently.

Honestly, seemed pretty nuanced and level headed. However, this gets to the heart of the problem: this is an apolitical site for talking about games. I don't want to argue for the political merits of European style Christian Democracy here, or against bigotry towards Jewish or Trans people (or any people): I want to talk about pretending to be an Elf Wizard in Faerûn. Given the politically charged nature of the Harry Potter franchise, is it an appropriate subject for an apolitical forum?

The idea that discussion or admiration of a work implies that one supports the creator is very problematic and one that we, as a society should get away from.
I would like to believe that work could be discussed with out spreading the propaganda of its creator or being seen to support it.
I tend to be on the free speech side but the Harry Potter corpus is not one I am going out of my way to defend.
I think that it has a lot of problems before we even get into the views of is creator.

Agreed. I just mean that I'd hope for the same response whether it's an accident due to subconsious bias or an accident due to coincidence.

EDIT: And it ALSO matters what you do before the accident to avoid the accident.
Assuming you know that an accident like that could happen. You can't avoid doing something you don't know to avoid.

I'll admit that at the beginning of the article I searched to check if "Dog Kid University" was a real media title.

This pretty much sums it all up :
"To be clear, I respect all people. I respect groups who are me and groups who are not me. But if I’m going to respect all people, that also means respecting people who want other people to die out and disappear. Right? Maybe the real oppressors here are the ones with a higher rate of suicide and being murdered. Have you ever thought of that? I bet you haven’t, because you’re in a bubble, which is something I say when other people think my self-justifications are stupid."

It would be disingenuous of me to say I was boycotting J.K. Rowling because I've never spent a dime on any Potter product. and am unlikely to start. Even when I visited Universal Studios back in the Before Times, I didn't buy a thing at Potter Land because I wasn't going to spend what they were charging in those candy shops. Not for ideological reasons, but because I've never been personally interested in the series. But I do want to say that I see where trans individuals and their allies are coming from. This isn't about a simple disagreement, you're fighting for your lives. And there's something I want you to know: The world is a better place with you in it.
