D&D General Is DnD being mothballed?

Yes, except Bestiary 6 is not aimed at players just like Bestiary 1 wasn't, and as far as I know Adventurer's Armory 2 is more of a niche product so it seems unlikely to cause confusion.

Player Core 2 sounds problematic, though.
I'm of the opinion that the RPG community (in general) wouldn't find any of that confusing, even if wider demographics generally think that 1/3 lb. hamburgers are smaller than 1/4 lb. hamburgers, but apparently that's elitist of me!

Well, the PF ones anyway. But have you seen the way bonuses in PF1e work. Some arithmetic skills are required for playing ;-)

Fair enough. I was only thinking of hardcovers to be honest. But, honestly, I don't think my point is too far off. Yes, there might be room to produce more, particularly if they go with cheaper soft covers. But, the basic point still remains - why would they?

I mean, I'm not trying to be snarky here or anything. But, what's in it for WotC to change the formula? They are still having record growth. The industry is the healthiest it has ever been in the history of the industry. I just can't see what the upside is for changing what they're doing.

Good grief, and this isn't directed at anyone specific, but, if you add in the DM's Guild stuff, you couldn't possibly play more than a tiny slice of what's already available. Unhappy about Spelljammer? DM's Guild has a very well done 20 level Spelljammer Adventure path. Great stuff. Heck, and it's already done for Fantasy Grounds as well. What more could I actually want?

I agree. I don't understand why people need to inject "WOTC is a greedy corporation" slams. I mean, yes, they want D&D to make money. That's how they keep the lights on. Perhaps they could increase products by X amount and make Y more profit, but at a certain point it would be less profitable because of the additional resources required and eventually become a net loss. Quality would also likely drop, simply because there are only so many ideas under the sun, especially when it comes to "crunch". Nobody has a crystal ball so nobody knows what the "correct" number of books to produce will be.

WOTC is also getting a percentage from everything sold on DmsGuild with little to no risk. I don't see that as a bad thing, it lets people who otherwise would not have a venue to publish write supplementary material and have a ready market for it. Meanwhile if something really takes off, WOTC can take a look at the trends and base future ideas on them.

Since I run a homebrew campaign it works for me most of the time to just get the monsters because I'm a sucker for new monsters that I will likely never use. Sometimes I get magic items as well, but I almost never bother with races.
Also homebrew. But I do the opposite and pick up all the new races in case the players need them (current world is wide open).

:)
