If that's wrong I dunno that I ever wanna be right. It would be wrong to have a betting pool for how long it'll take a poster to get banned, right?
That is technically an analog clock with weird hands. My parents' house has a digital clock from the 1970s that displays the time with numbered tiles that flip as the minutes and hours pass rather than on a display screen.
OK but the poster said 'likely' twice and 'I bet they're mostly' once. Wasn't it clear that the post was a generalisation?
No worries. Its a valid point. Perhaps I focused on the first sentence overly much.
Which generalisation doesn't have exceptions?
No. You are being misled by youtube. The definition of "digital clock" refers to how the time is displayed. It has nothing to do with the drive mechanism of the clock. Analog clocks by definition have hands indicating the time. For once wiki actually has it right:That is technically an analog clock with weird hands.
Weirdly, the wiki description of a hybrid clock is the exact opposite of the ones I've seen in a few professional kitchens, which displayed seconds with a single analog arm and hours and minutes digitally. Well, they did say "usually" there. Guess I've only seen the weirdos. Some clocks, called 'flip clocks', have digital displays that work mechanically. The digits are painted on sheets of material which are mounted like the pages of a book. Once a minute, a page is turned over to reveal the next digit. These displays are usually easier to read in brightly lit conditions than LCDs or LEDs. Also, they do not go back to 12:00 after a power interruption. Flip clocks generally do not have electronic mechanisms. Usually, they are driven by AC-synchronous motors.
Hybrid (analog-digital)
Clocks with analog quadrants, with a digital component, usually minutes and hours displayed analogously and seconds displayed in digital mode.
What did you buy? Maybe someone here will spare you the storage space (assuming it's a physical object, that is). One man's trash and all that.I bought something yesterday I'll probably never look at again.
