I'm glad not everyone read too much into my stupid joke about D&D being better 10+ years ago, when it was the same D&D. I guess I should have put a sarcasm tag. Mea culpa.

One of the things that was a green flag for my wife when we were dating was my complete Brett Sherlock Homes collection. I should also get the compete Miller and Cumberbatch Collections as well.
Not Laurie?

You reminded me of the other sweet pastry I like besides french crullers: cream puffs. The best cream puffs I've had were all Japanese bakeries: in Japan, Taiwan, Vancouver, and New York. Taiwanese bakeries are heavily influenced by Japan and also tend to have good cream puffs even though I don't care for most Taiwanese sweet pastries (though I do like a lot of savory stuff, like curry puffs, baked curry donuts, char siu [BBQ pork] buns, etc.)
Oh, dude, yeaaaaaahhhh. Shucream - which is what they call them here, are super yummy. Giant fat pills. Soooo good.

Give Japan credit where credit is due. Their bakeries are unbelievably good. Bread? Not so much. But their pastries? Ohhh baby.

One thing that I absolutely loved in Taiwan (and there were LOTS of things - freaking foodie heaven) was the coffee shaved ice (the wife swears by the mango). Ice shaved so fine that it's practically ice cream smooth. I gotta go back. My older one might be working there in a short while, so I have lots of excuses to head back.

Did I mention that I recommend Taiwan to anyone? :D

You don't like checks notes "restructured boneless pork [patties]"? 🤢

Edit to Add: The Wikipedia entry gets better — "The process was refined by a Natick Army Labs meat scientist, Dr. Roger Mandigo, leading to the McRib patty." Progress!

Man, I hope that in some other better timeline, there is a long-running Sunday comics serial along the lines of Prince Valiant, but called "Dr. Roger Mandigo, Meat Scientist!"

I feel that our civilization has missed out.
