I think generally, director's cuts are for people who already like the movie and want more... lore, I guess. Lore often gets in the way of pacing, but it's interesting for us nerds.

And I am cool with that. I understand the attraction to more information. But my issue is really more when the directors cut becomes the default and the artistry of the original theatrical release is lost (whether that is Star Wars or Amadeus, I think the effect is quite similar). Also it can introduce radical changes to the story, effectively making it a different film. The director's cut of Amadeus makes very big changes to the Constanze character

That's because I don't stop my car. I use natural breaking, which is a precise system of hitting pedestrians to slow the vehicle.

Or when the director's cut becomes overlong, self indulgent pap?

I've spent most of today looking at other RPGs, playing around with the framework for what I'm working on, setting the baseline, the tone, and so on.

As I've done so I've been refresh multiple forums, threads, and honestly the answer is 'just make it your own'.

Whatever the edition, whatever the platform, system, setting, if you need others to agree with your take, its just never going to work out.
