Heroes of the Borderlands

D&D (2024) Heroes of the Borderlands

My party (in my above mentioned OSE game) let the kids leave the cave. Just cause goblin kids exist in a game doesn't mean they will be murder hoboed.
True. But I also can't think of any time where WotC left them in the line of fire. (I do not own most of their adventures, so it may have happened, but I've never heard it mentioned.)

"Ok kids. I know we just slaughtered your tribe, but we're going to let you leave the only home and family ever you've known to go starve in the wilderness. Because we're the Good Guys."
Alternatively, you can give them into foster families like and tech them "proper" behavior, similar to what was tried with indigenous children up to a few decades ago.
The orc baby dilemma doesn't really have a satisfying solution, each way of handling it can be questioned.

If it were me, I'd make the Caves less of a tribal land and more of a staging ground for a war and thus only have soldiers and support personnel rather than civilians. The tribes send their warriors to serve the grand warlord, the women and children remain in places off camera and away from the action.

I'm perfectly fine with ignoring the existence of children when it comes to lairs and dungeons.
