Yeah, had the same thought (no pun intended). It honestly sounds a little video gamey to me. I really like the concept of Bastions/Strongholds, but question the implementation. Will reserve judgment until I can read the actual mechanics on how it works.
I'm pretty sure that the player just plays their character's trusted hirelings, not that a "Bastion Turn" is (unless it's a feature of the story) micro-managed from afar by their PC.

DM: "Gerald, the goblin attacks you. You take 3 damage"
DM: "Frank, your spell goes off and you kill 2 goblins."
DM: "Linda, your Bastion's pineapple harvest has been infested with bugs. Roll for insecticide. Ohhh a 7, half the crop is gone. Do you want to fire your gardener? Okay, Now roll to attack the hobgoblin king."

Yeah, the video glossed over it. It was definitely emphasizing that this book should appeal to beginners.

They did say it included expanded rules for crafting magic items however.
I wonder sometimes how and if they expect a lot of beginners to know about and watch these videos. Where are they hearing about them?

The previewed mechanics felt very video-gamey to me.
